Novos aditivos microbianos na ensilagem da cana-de-açúcar: composição bromatológica, perdas fermentativas, componentes voláteis e estabilidade aeróbia New microbial additives on sugarcane ensilage: bromatological composition, fermentative losses, volatile compounds and aerobic stability

Promoting Corn Stover Degradation via Sequential Processing of Steam Explosion and Lactic Acid Bacteria‐Assisted Ensilage

open access: yesFood and Energy Security, Volume 15, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
ABSTRACT Efficient utilization of corn stover is essential for enhancing the sustainability of livestock feed. However, its high lignocellulose content limits digestibility and nutritional value. Steam explosion technology, an emerging pretreatment method, has shown promise in food processing for its ability to break down the natural structural ...

Efeito de aditivo químico e inoculantes microbianos na fermentação e no controle da produção de álcool em silagens de cana-de-açúcar Chemical additive and microbial inoculants effects on the fermentation and on the control of the alcohol production in sugarcane silages

Freeze‐dried Lactobacillus spp. improved average daily liveweight gain and reduced methane intensity in growing lambs

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 6, Page 3857-3865, April 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND Direct fed microbials (DFM) are natural and safe enteric methane mitigants for ruminant livestock systems. While previous studies have demonstrated the effect of Lactobacillus spp. on methane mitigation, challenges remain in effectively delivering DFM in extensive grazing systems. The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the

The Effect of Lactobacillus buchneri, Lactobacillus plantarum, or a Chemical Preservative on the Fermentation and Aerobic Stability of Corn Silage

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 2000
Several microorganisms and one chemical preservative were tested for their effects on the fermentation and aerobic stability of corn silage. Whole-plant corn (one-half milk line, 31.3% dry matter) was ensiled in quadruplicate 20-L laboratory silos untreated or after the following treatments: Lactobacillus buchneri at 1 x 10(5) and 1 x 10(6) cfu/g of ...

Strain‐Specific Fermentation Performance of Lactic Acid Bacteria Isolated From Maize and Napier Fodder During Maize Ensiling

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 2, April 2026.
Isolation and identification of lactic acid bacteria from maize and Napier fodder and silage using physiological and biochemical tests, and Sanger sequencing. The isolated strains of Limosilactobacillus fermentum BLRI 1 and Bacillus subtilis BLRI 24 were utilised as an inoculant in maize silage.

Factors Controlling Histamine Production in Swiss Cheese Inoculated with Lactobacillus buchneri

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 1990
Swiss cheese was made from raw milk inoculated with various concentrations of a histamine-producing strain of Lactobacillus buchneri. Histamine production in these cheeses was proportional to the initial number of L. buchneri present in the raw milk. The highest inoculum level tested was 10(5) L. buchneri/ml.
