Study on the construction of recombined plasmid pMG36e-lacc1 and the electroporation of Lactobacillus buchneri

open access: yesBio-Medical Materials and Engineering, 2014
With a goal of obtaining the engineering probiotics that can produce both lactic acid and laccase, Pleurotus eryngii was selected as the test material. First, the laccase gene (Lacc1) was cloned by using RT-PCR (the length of which is 1596bp), and then, the gene was ligated to the food-grade vector pMG36e from Lactobacillus buchneri.

Integration of MALDI‐TOF MS and 16S rRNA Analysis for Identification of Plant‐Based Fermentation‐Associated Microbiota

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 1, February 2026.
Plant‐based fermentation matrices significantly influence microbial diversity and species‐specific proteomic adaptations. The integration of MALDI‐TOF MS and 16S rRNA sequencing with physicochemical analyses allowed for a better understanding of the impact of specific fermentation products on differences in microbial diversity and spectral protein ...

Water Added Probiotics Attenuates Sumithion‐Induced Toxicity on Growth, Intestinal Deformities, Erythrocytic Abnormalities, and Immunity in Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)

open access: yesAquaculture Nutrition, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Probiotics are important microflora that help in improving gut health, enhancing immunity, and boosting overall well‐being. Sumithion (O, O‐Dimethyl O‐(3‐methyl 4‐nitrophenyl) phosphorothioate) is an organophosphate insecticide widely used in agriculture and aquaculture, has harmful effects in aquatic organisms due to its indiscriminate use. Therefore,

Alcoholic fermentation and its prevention by Lactobacillus buchneri in whole crop rice silage [PDF]

open access: yesLetters in Applied Microbiology, 2007
To evaluate the fermentation characteristics and the effects of Lactobacillus buchneri inoculation in ensiling whole crop rice.Laboratory-scale silages were prepared from whole crop rice harvested at yellow-ripe stage. The crop was ensiled for 2 months with and without inoculation of L. buchneri at 10(4), 10(5) and 10(6) CFU g(-1).

Update of the list of QPS‐recommended biological agents intentionally added to food or feeds as notified to EFSA

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 24, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract The qualified presumption of safety (QPS) process was developed to provide a harmonised safety assessment approach to support EFSA Scientific Panels and Units. The QPS approach assesses the taxonomic identity, body of relevant knowledge and safety concerns of microorganisms intentionally added to the food and feed chain.
