Current Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, 2012Resistance to the macrocyclic lactones (MLs) has been confirmed or suspected in many target organisms and is a serious problem in some. For some species, such as parasitic nematodes of small ruminants, ML resistance has become severe enough to threaten effective worm control worm control.

Sesquiterpene Lactones as Allelochemicals
Journal of Natural Products, 2006Six new sesquiterpene lactones, annuolide H (3), helivypolides F, H-J (4, 11-13), and helieudesmanolide A (6), together with known compounds, were isolated from polar bioactive fractions of Helianthus annuus cv. SH-222 and Stella fresh leaf water extracts.

Preparation of lactones via tricarbonyliron–lactone complexes
J. Chem. Soc., Perkin Trans. 1, 1981A number of tricarbonyliron–lactone complexes have been prepared from vinyl oxirans by treatment with pentacarbonyliron. In certain cases two η3-allyl complexes were isolated from a single vinyl oxiran. Oxidation of the complexes by cerium(IV) ammonium nitrate in acetonitrile leads predominantly to β-lactones.
