Rhythmic chromatin interactions with lamin B1 reflect stochasticity in variable lamina-associated domains during the circadian cycle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Abstract Many mammalian genes exhibit circadian expression patterns concordant with periodic binding of transcription factors, chromatin modifications and chromosomal interactions. Here, we report periodic interactions of chromatin with nuclear lamins, suggesting rhythmic associations with the nuclear lamina.

The Role of Innate Immunity Receptors in the Pathogenesis of Inflammatory Bowel Disease

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2015
Innate immunity constitutes the first line of defense, fundamental for the recognition and the initiation of an inflammatory response against microorganisms.

Engineered Microvascular Model of the Blood–Brain–Tumor Barrier Reveals Endothelial Remodeling in Diffuse Midline Glioma

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We developed a patient‐derived, functional microfluidic model of the diffuse midline glioma (DMG) blood–brain–tumor barrier (BBTB) comprised of endothelial cells, astrocytes, pericytes, and tumor cells. The system forms perfusable microvasculature, reveals the BBTB retains vascular integrity, identifies DMG‐specific transcriptomic changes distinct from

Transcription-independent TFIIIC-bound sites cluster near heterochromatin boundaries within lamina-associated domains in C. elegans

open access: yesEpigenetics & Chromatin, 2019
ABSTRACT BACKGROUND Chromatin organization is central to precise control of gene expression. In various eukaryotic spieces, domains of pervasive cis -chromatin interactions demarcate functional domains of the genomes. In nematode

Tough, Ductile, and Strong Hard‐Soft Cementitious Composite Enabled by Multi‐Material Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Drawing inspiration from the layered hard‐soft architecture found in sea sponges, this work establishes a new framework for architected cementitious composites (ACC) through multi‐material additive manufacturing (MMAM) process. The integration of mortar and elastomer phases into layered architectures enables synergistic toughening mechanisms, including

Thermodynamic Limits to Molecular Doping in Conjugated Polymers: A Perspective on Phase Behavior and Miscibility

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Molecular doping of conjugated polymers is fundamentally constrained by thermodynamic phase behavior. This Perspective reframes doping efficiency and stability in terms of miscibility limits, binodals, and solvus boundaries, highlighting the role of effective interaction parameters and charge transfer.

Epigenetic deregulation of lamina-associated domains in Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome

open access: yes, 2019
Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome (HGPS) is a rare genetic disorder characterized by the onset of some age-related phenotypes including arthritis, lipodystrophy and atherosclerosis at a very early age. Cells from HGPS patients express a mutant version of the nuclear envelope component Lamin A (termed Progerin) and have previously been reported to ...

Hydrogel‐Based Airway‐on‐Tube With Perfusable Endothelial Lumen and Outward Epithelialization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A hydrogel‐based airway‐on‐tube platform featuring a perfusable endothelial lumen and outward epithelialization is presented. The system supports primary human bronchial epithelial and lung microvascular endothelial coculture under air‐liquid interface conditions.

Space‐Time Coding Conformal Metasurfaces for Multifrequency Beam Steering and Shaping

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Space‐time coding conformal metasurfaces enable dynamic wave control on curved surfaces by combining programmable spatial patterns with temporal modulation. This study shows that a single conformal aperture can independently manipulate multiple frequency components, achieving multifunctional beam shaping and steering, with implications for ...

A sub-set of guanine- and cytosine-rich genes are actively transcribed at the nuclear lamin B1 region

open access: yesCellular and Molecular Life Sciences
Chromatin organization in the mammalian cell nucleus plays a vital role in the regulation of gene expression. The lamina-associated domain at the inner nuclear membrane has been shown to harbor heterochromatin, while the nuclear interior has been shown ...
