Effect of Postharvest LED Application on Phenolic and Antioxidant Components of Blueberry Leaves

open access: yesChemEngineering, 2018
Light from red (661 nm) and blue (417 nm) LEDs were applied for 12, 24, and 48 h on freshly harvested blueberry leaves of different cultivars mixed together.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

ANTIPLASMODIAL AND ANTISALMONELLA ACTIVITIES OF PHENOLIC COMPOUND FROM ROUREA COCCINEA BENTH (CONNARACEAE)

open access: yesScientific Study & Research: Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Food Industry
The leaves extract of Rourea coccinea was fractionated, following the bioguided method, to give one phenolic compound named 1-caffeoylquinic acid lactone (1-CQL) (1), isolated from this plant for the first time, and the 3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside of ...

Produção e distribuição de fitomassa no guaranazeiro (Paullinia cupana H.B.K. var. sorbilis (Mart.) Ducke) Production and distribution of phytomass in guarana plants

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Leaves and Air Pollution [PDF]

open access: yes
In this activity, students investigate the effects of automobile pollution on plant growth by making measurements on two populations of leaves, one from within 10 meters of a busy road and a population of the same species situated more than 20 meters ...

Effects of burying and removing dead leaves from the ground on the development of scab epidemics in an apple organic orchard. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Ascospores produced on scabbed leaves in the leaf litter constitute the primary inoculum causing scab infections in apple orchards during the year.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
