Effects of the Low-Level Western Corn Rootworm Egg Infestation on Maize Plants in the Field
From the economic perspective, the western corn rootworm (WCR), Diabrotica virgifera sp. virgifera (Col., Chrysomelidae), poses the gravest threat to the field maize production in Serbia.

I HAVE read Mr. Henslow's letter with interest; and of course any criticisms from him are worthy of all attention. At the same time I may observe that as yet he has only seen what may be called an abstract of an abstract. A Friday evening lecture is scarcely the occasion to work out a special statement in detail; but he is apparently criticising not ...

The enzyme 5‐lipoxygenase (5‐LOX) catalyzes the first step in the biosynthesis of leukotrienes (LTs) involved in inflammatory pathophysiology. After cellular stimulation, 5‐LOX translocates to the nucleus, interacting with the 5‐LOX‐activating protein (FLAP) to form LTA4 from arachidonic acid (AA).

Surface Foliations with Compact complex leaves are holomorphic [PDF]
Let X be a compact complex surface with a real foliation. If all leaves are compact complex curves, the foliation must be holomorphic.

Dimeric pyruvate formate‐lyase cleaves pyruvate using a radical‐based mechanism. G734 serves as a radical storage location, and the radical is transferred to the catalytic C419 residue. Mutation of the C418‐C419 pair causes loss of enzyme activity, but does not impede radical introduction onto G734. Therefore, cis‐ but not trans‐radical transfer occurs

A Novel Technique Combining Image Processing, Plant Development Properties, and the Hungarian Algorithm, to Improve Leaf Detection in Maize [PDF]
Manual determination of plant phenotypic properties such as plant architecture, growth, and health is very time consuming and sometimes destructive. Automatic image analysis has become a popular approach. This research aims to identify the position (and number) of leaves from a temporal sequence of high-quality indoor images consisting of multiple ...
