Global genome diversity of the Leishmania donovani complex [PDF]

open access: yeseLife, 2020
Protozoan parasites of the Leishmania donovani complex – L. donovani and L. infantum – cause the fatal disease visceral leishmaniasis. We present the first comprehensive genome-wide global study, with 151 cultured field isolates representing most of the ...

LEISHMANIA DONOVANI IN THE PERIPHERAL BLOOD [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 1923
1. The effect of human red cells and serum on the growth of Leishmania donovani has been studied and a blood culture method devised, based on these findings. 2. The distribution of blood platelets and of the different varieties of leucocytes in the strata of centrifugalized diluted blood has been investigated, and also the distribution ...

Homologous minicircles in Leishmania donovani [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 2002
Leishmania minicircular deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is arranged into different classes according to sequence. These classes differ substantially in sequence, despite species- and genus-specific regions, and are present in widely different copy numbers within and between Leishmania strains.

Vaccine Development Against Leishmania donovani [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2012

Proteomic analysis of the secretome of Leishmania donovani [PDF]

open access: yesGenome Biology, 2008
Abstract Background Leishmania and other intracellular pathogens have evolved strategies that support invasion and persistence within host target cells. In some cases the underlying mechanisms involve the export of virulence factors into the host cell cytosol.

Synthesis and Antileishmanial Activity of 1,2,4,5-Tetraoxanes against Leishmania donovani [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
A chemically diverse range of novel tetraoxanes was synthesized and evaluated in vitro against intramacrophage amastigote forms of Leishmania donovani. All 15 tested tetraoxanes displayed activity, with IC50 values ranging from 2 to 45 µm.

Postoperative Late-Onset Endophthalmitis Caused by Leishmania donovani: A Case Report

open access: yesCase Reports in Ophthalmology, 2018
Leishmania donovani is a human blood parasite that belongs to the genus Leishmania. We would like to present a case of late Leishmania donovani endophthalmitis in one eye of a patient that underwent simultaneous bilateral grade 3 cataract surgery.

In Vitro Screening Test Using Leishmania Promastigotes Stably Expressing mCherry Protein [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Transgenic Leishmania major and Leishmania donovani axenic promastigotes constitutively expressing mCherry were used for in vitro antileishmanial drug screening. This method requires minimal sample manipulation and can be easily adapted to automatic drug

Leishmania donovani Exploits Tunneling Nanotubes for Dissemination and Propagation of B Cell Activation

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum, 2023
Polyclonal B cell activation and the resulting hypergammaglobulinemia are a detrimental consequence of visceral leishmaniasis (VL); however, the mechanisms underlying this excessive production of nonprotective antibodies are still poorly understood. Here,

Detection of Leishmania DNA in wild foxes and associated ticks in Patagonia, Argentina, 2000 km south of its known distribution area [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Indexación: Web of Science; PubMedBackground: Zoonotic Visceral Leishmaniasis (ZVL) is a vector-borne disease affecting humans and other mammals and caused by the protozoan parasite Leishmania (Leishmania) infantum (syn. L.
