Photoperiod-Induced Increases in Bone Mineral Apposition Rate in Siberian Hamsters and the Involvement of Seasonal Leptin Changes

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2017
The adipokine leptin regulates energy balance, appetite, and reproductive maturation. Leptin also acts on bone growth and remodeling, but both osteogenic and anti-osteogenic effects have been reported depending on experimental conditions.

Leptin and leptin receptor expression in asthma [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, 2009
The adipokine leptin is a potential new mediator for bronchial epithelial homeostasis. Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by airway remodeling that might affect disease chronicity and severity. TGF-beta is a tissue growth factor the dysregulation of which is associated with airway remodeling. We sought to determine whether a ...

Pengaruh Leptin terhadap Kadar Interleukin 6 Serum Tikus yang Diberi Pakan Tinggi Lemak

open access: yesMutiara Medika, 2014
Pada keadaan obesitas, meningkatnya jumlah sel lemak merupakan salah satu penyebab meningkatnya sitokin proinflamasi seperti IL-6. Obesitas dapat dimulai dengan terjadinya resistensi leptin.

TNF receptor–related factor 3 inactivation promotes the development of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma through NF‐κB‐inducing kinase–mediated hepatocyte transdifferentiation

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract Background and Aims Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is a deadly but poorly understood disease, and its treatment options are very limited. The aim of this study was to identify the molecular drivers of ICC and search for therapeutic targets.

Lactoferrin treatment activates acetylcholinesterase, decreasing acetylcholine levels in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell culture supernatants, inhibiting cell survival

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Representation of the suggested mode of action of lactoferrin (Lf) in nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) A549 cells. Lf induces activation of caspase‐3 by activating p53 and AChE leading to decreased ACh concentrations. In turn, ACh signaling leads to activation of VEGF and AKT and blocking of caspase‐3.

Lipocalin‐2 activates hepatic stellate cells and promotes nonalcoholic steatohepatitis in high‐fat diet–fed Ob/Ob mice

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Graphical summary of obesity‐induced NASH progression by LCN2 targeted to HSC activation. Abstract Background and Aims In obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus, leptin promotes insulin resistance and contributes to the progression of NASH via activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs).

Cardiac leptin overexpression in the context of acute MI and reperfusion potentiates myocardial remodeling and left ventricular dysfunction. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
BACKGROUND:Acute MI induces leptin expression in the heart, however the role of myocardial leptin in cardiac ischemia and reperfusion (IR) remains unknown.
