Bacterial volatile organic compounds supplemented with light‐emitting diode lighting enhance antioxidant capacity and delay senescence in broccoli

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 6, Issue 1, Page 448-464, January 2025.
Bacterial volatile organic compounds (BVOCs) are biological volatiles that can have a positive effect on the postharvest preservation of fruits and vegetables. In the present study, fumigation of broccoli with BVOCs released by Lysinibacillus fusiformis supplemented with LED white light irradiation reduced the accumulation of reactive oxygen species ...

Activatable Fluorescence and Bio/Chemiluminescence Probes for Aminopeptidases: From Design to Biomedical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 36, Issue 45, November 7, 2024.
Aminopeptidases as a type of exopeptidase can hydrolyze peptide bonds at the N‐terminus of polypeptide and protein, serving as various key roles in the physiological and pathological processes. In this review, diverse representative examples of recent works about activatable aminopeptidase probes are summarized including sensing, imaging, and therapy ...

Safety evaluation of the food enzyme triacylglycerol lipase from the non‐genetically modified Limtongozyma cylindracea strain AE‐LAYH (B)

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 22, Issue 10, October 2024.
Abstract The food enzyme, a triacylglycerol lipase (triacylglycerol acylhydrolase; EC 3.1.1.3), is produced with the non‐genetically modified Limtongozyma cylindracea strain AE‐LAYH (B) by Amano Enzyme Inc. It is intended to be used in six food manufacturing processes.

Phosphorus controls symbiotic nitrogen fixation in fire‐dependent longleaf pine savannas

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 112, Issue 9, Page 2057-2068, September 2024.
Our findings suggest that symbiotic N fixation in sandhill longleaf pine savannas is controlled by soil P availability, which varies according to soil age and parent material. Therefore, fixation may only counterbalance N losses from fire if there is enough P in the soil to support this process. Nonetheless, recent N enrichment in contemporary longleaf

Modulation of oxidative stress biomarkers and lysosomal functioning in gills and liver of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss Walbaum) fed a diet supplemented with yeast β-glucans

open access: yesFisheries & Aquatic Life
The present study was performed to investigate the effects of dietary yeast β-1,3/1,6-D-glucans after 15-, 30-, and 45-day feeding periods on the development of oxidative stress, antioxidant defenses, and lysosomal functioning in gills and hepatic tissue

Brugia malayi excreted/secreted proteins at the host/parasite interface: stage- and gender-specific proteomic profiling.

open access: yesPLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2009
Relatively little is known about the filarial proteins that interact with the human host. Although the filarial genome has recently been completed, protein profiles have been limited to only a few recombinants or purified proteins of interest.

Optimization of ultracentrifugation‐based method to enhance the purity and proteomic profiling depth of plasma‐derived extracellular vesicles and particles

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Biology, Volume 3, Issue 7, July 2024.
Abstract Circulating extracellular vesicles and particles (EVPs) are being investigated as potential biomarkers for early cancer detection, prognosis, and disease monitoring. However, the suboptimal purity of EVPs isolated from peripheral blood plasma has posed a challenge of in‐depth analysis of the EVP proteome. Here, we compared the effectiveness of

Variations in eco-enzymatic stoichiometric and microbial characteristics in paddy soil as affected by long-term integrated organic-inorganic fertilization.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
To investigate the effects of different nutrient management regimes on the soil chemical, eco-enzymatic stoichiometric and microbial characteristics, soil samples were collected from a 30-year, long-term field experiment with six plots growing rice.
