Staphylococcus aureus is a formidable human pathogen that uses secreted cytolytic factors to injure immune cells and promote infection of its host. Of these proteins, the bicomponent family of pore-forming leukocidins play critical roles in S.

Binding of pseudomonal leukocidin to rabbit polymorphonuclear leukocytes [PDF]
The leukocytotoxic toxin pseudomonal leukocidin, produced by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, was radioiodinated with chloramine-T reagent. Binding of [125I]leukocidin to rabbit polymorphonuclear leukocytes was found to be concentration dependent at 37 degrees C.

Staphylococcus aureus Extracellular Vesicles: A Story of Toxicity and the Stress of 2020
Staphylococcus aureus generates and releases extracellular vesicles (EVs) that package cytosolic, cell-wall associated, and membrane proteins, as well as glycopolymers and exoproteins, including alpha hemolysin, leukocidins, phenol-soluble modulins ...

Proteomics of Staphylococcus aureus biofilm matrix in a rat model of orthopedic implant-associated infection. [PDF]
The matrix proteins of Staphylococcus aureus biofilm have not been well defined. Previous efforts to identify these proteins were performed using in vitro systems.

Staphylococcal Bicomponent Pore-Forming Toxins: Targets for Prophylaxis and Immunotherapy
Staphylococccus aureus represents one of the most challenging human pathogens as well as a common colonizer of human skin and mucosal surfaces. S. aureus causes a wide range of diseases from skin and soft tissue infection (SSTI) to debilitating and life ...

Role of Glucose-6-Phosphate in Metabolic Adaptation of Staphylococcus aureus in Diabetes
Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is the most common and costly sequela of diabetes mellitus, often leading to lower-extremity amputation with poor 5-year survival rates.

Staphylococcal leukocidin and .GAMMA.-hemolysin.
