Engineering Microbial Particles for Next‐Generation Biomedical Platforms
Microbe‐derived particles (MDPs), which include extracellular vesicles, outer membrane vesicles, inclusion bodies, polysaccharide particles, and virus‐like particles, represent a rapidly expanding category of bioinspired nanomaterials. With their natural origin, intrinsic biocompatibility, and highly programmable functionality, MDPs serve as a ...

[Pulmonary aspiration in children. Quantification of lipid laden alveolar macrophages].
The search for lipid laden macrophages in sputum could be a simple diagnosis method for pulmonary aspiration. To assess the usefulness of sputum lipid laden macrophages in the diagnosis of pulmonary aspiration.Sixteen children aged 0 to 4 years old, admitted with aspiration pneumonia were studied. The diagnosis was based on clinical grounds (vomiting or

Nanomaterials offer dual applications in allergy management. For diagnosis, nanomaterials enhance analytical sensitivity and improve detection in specific IgE and functional assays such as the basophil activation test (BAT). For allergen‐specific immunotherapy, nanomaterials enable allergen masking and controlled release, and effectively modulate the ...

Lipid-laden macrophage index as a marker of aspiration in children, is it reliable? A scoping review
A diagnostic pathway to detect aspiration is challenging and usually requires a multidisciplinary approach and a variety of tests. Lipid-laden macrophage index (LLMI) was first described in 1985 by Corwin and Irwin as a promising tool to detect aspiration.
