An Integrated Oxygen‐Supplying Device and Predictive Multiphysics Model for Extended Ambient Transport of Insulin‐Producing Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cell therapies typically rely on cold‐chain logistics and cryopreservation, limiting access and compromising cell quality. Here, a dual‐chamber device separates an oxygen‐supplying chamber from a hyaluronic acid cargo chamber, sustaining oxygen delivery for over 70 h and enabling ambient‐temperature shipment.

Resolvin T4 enhances macrophage cholesterol efflux to reduce vascular disease

open access: yesNature Communications
While cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the major co-morbidities in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), the mechanism(s) that contribute to CVD in patients with RA remain to be fully elucidated.

THE LIPID-LADEN MACROPHAGE AS A MARKER OF ASPIRATION IN NEONATES WITH CHRONIC LUNG DISEASE [PDF]

open access: yesPediatric Research, 1987
The diagnosis of aspiration secondary to gastroesophageal reflux is difficult unless it is massive. In order to determine whether the presence of lipid-laden macrophages in tracheal aspirates is useful diagnostically we prospectively evaluated samples stained with Oil-Red-O in ventilator-dependent neonates fed orogastrically.

ATP‐Mediated Bidirectional Communication Between Natural and Artificial Cells for Controlled Bioreactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Establishment of bidirectional communication behavior between natural and artificial cells. The first type of communication from natural dendritic cells to artificial polymeric cells was achieved via ATP release after cell lysis. The released ATP was taken up via gated UV‐controlled permeability increase of the polymeric membrane for performing ...

YC-1 induces lipid droplet formation in RAW 264.7 macrophages

open access: yes, 2017
Background: 3-(5'-Hydroxymethyl-2'-furyl)-1-benzylindazole (YC-1) is a potential anticancer drug that may activate soluble guanylyl cyclase (sGC) and increase the level of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP).

Targeting Monocytes/Macrophages to Treat Atherosclerotic Inflammation

open access: yes, 2020
It is by now widely recognized that atherosclerosis – with its burden of consequences in cerebro- and cardiovascular diseases – is just a chronic inflammatory process of the arterial wall.

An Epigenetic Fate Converter Based on Nuclei‐Targeting Lipid Nanoparticles Drives Neuronal Programming of Stem Cells for Spinal Cord Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of LNP‐MPG nuclei‐targeting delivery of HMW‐FGF2 promoting histone acetylation to regulate the fate of DPSCs and treat spinal cord injury. LNPs components include pHMW‐FGF2 plasmid, DSPC, Dlin‐MC3‐DMA, cholesterol, and PEG2000, and are modified with MPG to form HMW‐FGF2@LNP‐MPG (HLM). HLM nuclei‐targets DPSCs to deliver HMW‐FGF2,

Microfluidic Nano‐Assembly of Red‐Blood‐Cell (RBC) Lipids and Components for Engineering Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Engineered red blood cell‐derived extracellular vesicles (eRBCEVs) are synthesized via controlled microfluidic assembly from native RBC lipids, enabling tunable encapsulation of proteins, nucleic acids, nanoparticles, and viral vectors. The platform demonstrates reproducible nanoscale architecture, preserved membrane composition, and functional cargo ...

Storage lipid studies in tuberculosis reveal that foam cell biogenesis is disease-specific.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2018
Foam cells are lipid-laden macrophages that contribute to the inflammation and tissue damage associated with many chronic inflammatory disorders. Although foam cell biogenesis has been extensively studied in atherosclerosis, how these cells form during a

Interleukin-10 enhances the oxidized LDL-induced foam cell formation of macrophages by antiapoptotic mechanisms

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2005
Interleukin (IL)-10 may have a therapeutic potential in atherosclerosis, but its mechanisms of action have not been clarified. Foam cell formation is a key event in atherogenesis, and apoptosis of these lipid-laden cells may promote plaque ...
