Candida albicans pathways that protect against organic peroxides and lipid peroxidation.
Human fungal pathogens must survive diverse reactive oxygen species (ROS) produced by host immune cells that can oxidize a range of cellular molecules including proteins, lipids, and DNA.

Preventive Effects of Resveratrol against Beta Adrenergic Catecholamine-Induced Acute Myocardial Stress during Experimental Hyperglycemia in in Vivo and in Vitro Models [PDF]
Aim: To evaluate the cardioprotective effects of resveratrol during hyperglycemic conditions in in vitro and in vivo models. Study Design: H9c2 cardiomyocyte cells were used as in vitro models and adult male Wistar strain albino rats were used as in vivo

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Protective Role of S-Adenosylmethionine Against Fructose-Induced Oxidative Damage in Obesity [PDF]
Introduction. It has been shown that S-adenosylmethionine (S-AMe) stimulates glutathione synthesis and increases cell resistance to the cytotoxic action of free radicals and pro-inflammatory cytokines. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Lipid cyclic peroxides are a rarely reported and documented class of compounds in the human organism. Recently, we reported the formation of squalene (SQ) hydroperoxy cyclic peroxides derived from SQ monohydroperoxide isomers (SQ-OOHs) for the first time.

Effects of duration and temperature of heating of sunflower oil on ruminal linoleic acid biohydrogenation in vitro [PDF]
Feeding cows with heat treated oilseeds results in an increase of milk conjugated linoleic acids (CLA) content compared to feeding raw seeds. Heating leads to a lipid peroxidation, which could reduce the amount of fatty acids (FA) subjected to ...

Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Lipid peroxidation in the serum of hypothyroid patients (In Gorgan-South East of Caspian Sea) [PDF]
This study was designed to determine if lipid peroxidation can be modified by hypothyroidism. Twenty eight subjects with hypothyroidism and 33 euthyroid subjects participated in this study (2007).
