Integrin Signaling and Lipid Rafts [PDF]

open access: yesCell Cycle, 2004
Integrin-mediated adhesion regulates the recruitment of the small GTPase Rac to the plasma membrane and subsequent activation of downstream signaling. We recently reported that Rac binds preferentially to cholesterol-rich membranes ("lipid rafts"), and integrins regulate Rac function by preventing the internalization of its binding sites within these ...

Identifying prognostic targets in metastatic prostate cancer beyond AR

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Genome‐wide functional screens combined with a large gene expression database and clinical outcomes can identify new therapeutic vulnerabilities in prostate cancer. Eight potentially druggable targets demonstrated strong dependency in cell lines, were associated with worse prognosis clinically, and showed evidence of protein expression in prostate ...

Quantification of major classes of Xenopus phospholipids by high performance liquid chromatography with evaporative light scattering detection

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2000
Lipid signaling has become a major research area of cell biology and there is a need for methods that accurately and easily measure substrates and products of lipases involved in cell signaling.

Current trends in single‐cell RNA sequencing applications in diabetes mellitus

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Single‐cell RNA sequencing is a powerful approach to decipher the cellular and molecular landscape at a single‐cell resolution. The rapid development of this technology has led to a wide range of applications, including the detection of cellular and molecular mechanisms and the identification and introduction of novel potential diagnostic and ...

Co‐overexpression of the caloric restriction‐induced mitochondrial factors PGC‐1α and MIPEP upregulates Phospho1 expression in adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caloric restriction that extends lifespan induces the expression of PGC‐1α and MIPEP in white adipose tissue. In this study, co‐overexpression of Pgc‐1α and Mipep upregulated the gene expression of PHOSPHO1. These findings provide new insights into mitochondria‐related mechanisms underlying the effects of caloric restriction in adipocytes.

Neutral Lipids Are Not a Source of Arachidonic Acid for Lipid Mediator Signaling in Human Foamy Monocytes

open access: yesCells, 2019
Human monocytes exposed to free arachidonic acid (AA), a secretory product of endothelial cells, acquire a foamy phenotype which is due to the accumulation of cytoplasmic lipid droplets with high AA content. Recruitment of foamy monocytes to the inflamed

Microfluidic electro‐viscoelastic manipulation of extracellular vesicles

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The electro‐viscoelastic manipulation as a potential method for separation of particles based on size. The particles introduced as a sheath flow migrate to the channel center under the influence of simultaneously applied electric field and pressure driven flow.
