Protective effect and mechanism of alpha-lipoic acid on lead-induced Sertoli cell damage in rooster testes

open access: yesAsian Pacific Journal of Reproduction
Objective: To investigate the protective effect of alpha-lipoic acid on lead-induced Sertoli cell injury and its potential molecular mechanisms using primary Sertoli cells from rooster testes. Methods: Primary Sertoli cells from 6-week-old rooster testes

The Role of the Gut Microbiome in the Complex Network of Frailty Syndrome and Associated Comorbidities in Aging

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 2, February 2026.
This study analyzed gut microbiota in older adults with and without Frailty Syndrome by 16S rRNA gene sequencing and metagenomics. Frailty was associated with altered microbial composition, metabolic functions, and increased antimicrobial resistance, whereas non‐frail individuals showed healthier profiles.

The autoepitope of the 74-kD mitochondrial autoantigen of primary biliary cirrhosis corresponds to the functional site of dihydrolipoamide acetyltransferase. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
Autoantibodies to mitochondrial antigens are characteristic of the autoimmune liver disease primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC), but the precise antigenic determinants recognized by these antibodies have not been defined.

Lycium barbarum polysaccharides enhance testicular spermatogenesis in d‐galactose‐induced aging rats via calcium signaling

open access: yesAndrology, Volume 14, Issue 2, Page 496-515, February 2026.
Abstract Background Lycium barbarum polysaccharide (LBP) has long been recognized as having a wide range of beneficial properties for improving proliferation. However, the protective effects and specific mechanisms of d‐galactose‐induced testicular dysfunction in reproductively senescent rats are not fully understood.

The Subgingival Host–Microbial Landscape in Mothers With Periodontitis and Their At‐Risk Offspring

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Periodontology, Volume 53, Issue 2, Page 201-213, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim To evaluate the subgingival proteome and microbiome of mothers with periodontitis and their offspring, thereby assessing signatures of periodontal diseases. Methods Forty participants in four groups were included: mothers with periodontitis and their offspring, as well as periodontally healthy mothers and their offspring.

Correction of cardiovascular disorders in diabetic patients with depressive simptoms

open access: yesКардиоСоматика, 2013
We studied the influence of mexidol and a-lipoic acid on cardiovascular and affective disorders' severity in patients with diabetes. 14-day administration of mexidol (300 mg/day) and a-lipoic acid (600 mg/day) had a positive impact on depressive guilt ...

Electrophysiological diagnosis using the coefficient of variation of R‐R intervals and a point‐of‐care nerve conduction device is highly correlated to the diagnosis of diabetic polyneuropathy using conventional electromyographs

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, Volume 17, Issue 2, Page 280-290, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Aims/Introduction While treatment for diabetic polyneuropathy (DPN) is still developing, progress has stagnated. The alignment between pathological neurodegeneration in DPN and patients' subjective symptoms is often low, yet these symptoms are frequently used for diagnosis.
