The impact of cardiac lipotoxicity on cardiac function and mirnas signature in obese and non-obese rats with myocardial infarction [PDF]
Cardiac lipotoxicity is involved in the cardiac functional consequences associated with obesity. Therefore, the aim of this study was to explore whether changes in the mitochondrial lipid cardiac profile could reflect differences in cardiac function and ...

Lipid and Foam Cell Accumulation as Novel Pathological Features of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia
ABSTRACT Background Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) encompasses a heterogeneous set of pathological processes that instigate lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). Using a mouse model of steroid hormone imbalance–induced lower urinary tract dysfunction, we identified luminal lipid‐laden foamy macrophages, although their presence and contribution to ...

Probing the Global Cellular Responses to Lipotoxicity Caused by Saturated Fatty Acids
Excessive levels of saturated fatty acids are toxic to cells, although the basis for this lipotoxicity remains incompletely understood. Here, we analyzed the transcriptome, lipidome, and genetic interactions of human leukemia cells exposed to palmitate ...

The Neuroprotective Effect of a Waste Byproduct Obtained From Pomegranate (Punica granatum)
The Effect of a Waste Byproduct Obtained From Pomegranate on Neurodegeneration. ABSTRACT Pomegranate is an exceptional fruit that can have several beneficial effects on human health. The peel of pomegranate, a waste product, should be recovered as it still contains valuable constituents, including phenolic compounds, minerals and fibre. The recovery of

Is there a role for cannabidiol in obesity, metabolic syndrome and binge eating?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the most abundant phytocannabinoids isolated from the Cannabis sativa plant. CBD is a lipophilic, non‐intoxicating substance that differently from Δ9‐tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9‐THC) does not present the typical profile of a drug of abuse.

PDE4D and PDE3B orchestrate distinct cAMP microdomains in 3T3‐L1 adipocytes
Basal conditions: •Ins/PDE3B lowers cytoplasmic cAMP (cyt‐cAMP) without affecting plasma membrane cAMP (pm‐cAMP). •Insulin decreases lipid droplet cAMP (LD‐cAMP) independent of PDE3B. •FGF1/PDE4D modestly reduces both cyt‐ and pm‐cAMP, while PDE4D alone can modulate LD‐cAMP. ISO stimulation: •Ins/PDE3B has minimal impact on cyt‐cAMP.

Updates on Mediterranean diet and health status: active ingredients and pharmacological mechanisms
The Mediterranean diet (MedDiet) is among the most extensively studied dietary patterns and has been consistently associated with reduced risk of all‐cause mortality, cardiovascular disease, metabolic disorders, cognitive decline and several types of cancers.
