T‐Cell Exhaustion in the Tumor Microenvironment: Subcellular Dysfunction, Pan‐Cancer Characteristics, and Therapeutic Interventions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study elucidates the mechanisms of subcellular multidimensional collapse in exhausted T cells. By specifically targeting the nucleus, mitochondria, and endoplasmic reticulum, strategic interventions can effectively remodel the compromised organelle network. This integrated approach drives comprehensive T cell resuscitation, ultimately establishing

Protective Effects of Linoleic Acid against the Cytotoxicity of Palmitic Fatty Acid in Rat Cardiomyocytes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Kerman University of Medical Sciences, 2016
Background & Aims: Lipotoxicity is the process through which accumulation of lipid intermadiates leads to cellular dysfunction. The worldwide prevalence of cardiovascular diseases has been increased dramatically due to lipotoxicity.

Targeting ANGPTL3 and IL‐33/ST2 Ameliorates Diabetic Kidney Disease by Reducing Lipotoxicity, Alleviating Inflammation and Inhibiting Fibrosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dual targeting of ANGPTL3 and IL‐33/ST2 attenuates diabetic kidney disease by reprogramming lipid–inflammatory crosstalk. This strategy reduces renal lipotoxicity, suppresses inflammatory activation, and limits fibrotic remodeling, thereby preserving kidney structure and function and highlighting a mechanism‐guided therapeutic approach for metabolic ...

CEBPG‐Mediated Palmitic Acid Adaptation of Cancer‐Associated Fibroblasts Drives Metastasis of Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals a metabolic signaling axis in the OSCC microenvironment where palmitic acid (PA) drives the activation of CAFs. PA uptake triggers CEBPG‐dependent epigenetic remodeling to upregulate ERN1 and TMBIM6, thereby mitigating ER stress. This adaptive program sustains CAF survival and the pro‐metastatic phenotype, establishing this pathway ...

Natural Product Skatole Ameliorates Lipotoxicity-Induced Multiple Hepatic Damage under Hyperlipidemic Conditions in Hepatocytes

open access: yes, 2023
Skatole (3-methylindole, 3MI) is a natural-origin compound derived from plants, insects, and microbial metabolites in human intestines. Skatole has an anti-lipid peroxidation effect and is a biomarker for several diseases.

Periodontitis and metabolic diseases (diabetes and obesity): Tackling multimorbidity

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) are multifactorial, long‐term, chronic conditions that represent a burden to health‐care systems worldwide as they can only be controlled rather than cured; hence, they require long‐term care. With the exponential increase in NCDs, the occurrence of individuals presenting with more than one chronic disease is ...

Activation of the AMPK-SIRT1 pathway contributes to protective effects of Salvianolic acid A against lipotoxicity in hepatocytes and NAFLD in mice

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2020
Background: Salvianolic acid A (Sal A), a natural polyphenol compound extracted from Radix Salvia miltiorrhiza (known as Danshen in China), possesses a variety of potential pharmacological activities.

Lipotoxicity impairs incretin signalling [PDF]

open access: yesDiabetologia, 2012
The incretin hormones glucagon-like peptide-1 and glucose-dependent insulinotropic peptide are secreted by enteroendocrine cells and augment glucose-induced insulin secretion in response to food ingestion in a glucose-dependent manner. This mechanism forms the basis for incretin-based therapies in type 2 diabetes.

Indole‐3‐Acetic Acid Protects Bovine Hepatocytes Against Palmitic Acid‐Induced Lipid Accumulation and ER Stress Through SIRT3

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Cows with ketosis during the perinatal period often experience damage to the liver, a core metabolic organ, thereby exacerbating the disease's inherent vicious cycle. This study indicates that serum 3‐IAA concentrations were reduced in ketotic cows and show a significant negative correlation with hepatic TG content.

Targeting neutrophil extracellular traps in metabolic and immune niche: Nanomaterials for diabetes tissue regeneration

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
The effects of NETs on regeneration of various diabetic tissues, and strategies targeting NETs for diabetes tissue regeneration. In the diabetic environment, NETs undergo complex metabolic and immune reprogramming, leading to dynamic changes in antibacterial and proinflammatory functions, and affecting regeneration of multiple systemic tissues.
