From Cold to Hot: Nanozyme‐Based Strategies for Reprogramming the Tumour Immunoenvironment

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Nanozymes, with multi‐enzyme catalytic activities, reprogram the immunosuppressive tumour microenvironment by inducing immunogenic cell death, relieving hypoxia, and depleting antioxidants, effectively converting immunologically “cold” tumours into “hot” ones to boost cancer immunotherapy efficacy.

Pharmakologische Wirkmechanismen und Zielstrukturen von Boswelliasäuren in humanen Leukozyten und Thrombozyten

open access: yes, 2006
Boswellia serrata gum resin extracts (frankincense) have been used for centuries in folk medicine in Asia and Africa. They have shown beneficial therapeutic effects, particularly in the treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases.

Leukotriene B4 costimulates 5-lipoxygenase activity in neutrophils via increased 5-lipoxygenase translocation

open access: yes, 1997
The goal of this investigation was to assess the effect of leukotriene B4 (LTB4) on 5-lipoxygenase activity and to examine the possible mechanisms of this effect.

Opposing roles of DGAT‐mediated lipid droplet biogenesis in the regulation of ferroptosis sensitivity

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Ferroptosis is driven by unrestricted peroxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acyl (PUFA) chains in membrane phospholipids. In triple‐negative breast cancer cells, lipid droplets (LDs) sequester dietary PUFAs, limiting their incorporation into membrane phospholipids, preventing mitochondrial damage, and reducing lipid peroxidation and ferroptosis.

Stomopnolides A-B from echinoidea sea urchin Stomopneustes variolaris: prospective natural anti-inflammatory leads attenuate pro-inflammatory 5-lipoxygenase

open access: yes, 2019
Two fourteen-membered macrocyclic pyrone derivatives named as stomopnolides were identified from the organic extract of echinoidea sea urchin Stomopneustes variolaris by extensive chromatographic purification, and were characterised as methyl 10-butyl-4a-

Steroidogenic compensation and lipid deficiency with enhanced NAD+ salvage in small‐for‐gestational‐age placenta

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Fetal growth restriction is associated with placental metabolic adaptations. In small‐for‐gestational‐age placenta (SGA), cholesterol receptors and steroidogenic enzymes are upregulated, enhancing steroidogenesis. NAD salvage pathway is also increased to support NADP+/NADPH requirements.

Discovering novel plasma biomarkers for ischemic stroke: Lipidomic and metabolomic analyses in an aged mouse model

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research
Ischemic stroke remains a leading cause of mortality and long-term disability worldwide, necessitating efforts to identify biomarkers for diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment monitoring.

Description of the rate-limiting hydrogen tunneling mechanism for plant 9- and 13-lipoxygenases. [PDF]

open access: yesProtein Sci
Abstract Soybean lipoxygenase (GmLOX1), a plant 13‐LOX, has long been considered a model protein for non‐trivial, quantum hydrogen tunneling in enzyme catalysis. Hydrogen tunneling mechanisms have also been confirmed for LOXs across mammalian, fungal, and bacterial kingdoms.

Studies on the activation of cytosolic phospholipase A2 and 15-lipoxygenase-1 in hematopoietic cells

open access: yes, 2009
Arachidonic acid is a polyunsaturated fatty acid that has four double bonds and belongs to the omega-6 family of fatty acids. Although it can be formed in humans from one essential fatty acid (linoleic acid), most of the arachidonic acid in the body ...
