Reduction of Pericarp Browning and Microbial Spoilage on Litchi Fruits in Modified Atmosphere Packaging

open access: yesHorticulturae, 2023
The pericarp browning and postharvest microbiological decay of litchi fruit (Litchi chinensis Sonn cv Kwai Mai) significantly reduce its commercial potential in the fresh market. In this study, different combinations of modified atmosphere packaging (MAP)

Fast and precise detection of litchi fruits for yield estimation based on the improved YOLOv5 model

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
The fast and precise detection of dense litchi fruits and the determination of their maturity is of great practical significance for yield estimation in litchi orchards and robot harvesting. Factors such as complex growth environment, dense distribution,

Recognition and Matching of Clustered Mature Litchi Fruits Using Binocular Charge-Coupled Device (CCD) Color Cameras

open access: yesSensors, 2017
Recognition and matching of litchi fruits are critical steps for litchi harvesting robots to successfully grasp litchi. However, due to the randomness of litchi growth, such as clustered growth with uncertain number of fruits and random occlusion by ...

The storability of litchi fruits with different maturity is correlated to seed vigor

open access: yesScientia Horticulturae
Litchi (Litchi chinensis Sonn.) fruit, consisting of pericarp, aril (pulp) and a recalcitrant seed, has exceptionally short storage/shelf life. However, research on the intrinsic factors affecting postharvest storability remains limited.

Combinatorial approaches for controlling pericarp browning in Litchi (Litchi chinensis) fruit [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Food Science and Technology, 2015
The availability of fruit like litchi has been limited by variability in yield, alternate bearing, seasonal differences and most commonly post harvest problems. The litchi fruit has a very short shelf-life during which red color turns brown which greatly affects the appeal to consumer although not the unique flavor.

Dielectric properties of litchi fruit (Litchi chinensis Sonn) at microwave frequencies

open access: yesJournal of Food Science and Technology, 2020
The dielectric properties of litchi fruit were determined using the open-ended coaxial probe method. The measurements were performed in the frequency range from 0.5 to 20 GHz during 3 days of storage at room temperature (~  24 °C). The dielectric properties increased with storage time.
