Analysis of Hepatic Artery Infusion (HAI) Chemotherapy Using Randomized Trials of Floxuridine (FUDR) for Colon Cancer Patients with Multiple Liver Metastases

open access: yesGastroenterology Research and Practice, 2022
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the leading causes of cancer-related death, with most of the people who have the disease developing numerous liver metastases. Sixty percent of colon cancer patients have liver metastases.

Examining the use of abdominal compression in stereotactic body radiotherapy for liver metastases – a single center’s experience of 10 years

open access: yes, 2022
INTRODUCTION: Stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) with abdominal compression (AC) stands out due to the high tolerance and ease of application in the treatment of liver metastases.

Effective cytoreduction can be achieved in patients with numerous neuroendocrine tumor liver metastases (NETLMs),

open access: yesSurgery, 2018
Background: Cytoreductive surgery for neuroendocrine tumor liver metastases improves survival and symptomatic control. However, the feasibility of adequate cytoreduction in patients with many liver metastases remains uncertain.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Phase II trial on SBRT for unresectable liver metastases: long-term outcome and prognostic factors of survival after 5 years of follow-up

open access: yesRadiation Oncology, 2018
The aim of this study was to evaluate long-term efficacy and survival prognostic factors of stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) for un-resectable liver metastases in patients enrolled in a prospective phase II trial.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Impact of different visceral metastatic sites on survival in metastatic prostate cancer patients.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
IntroductionVisceral metastasis is an important predictor for poor outcomes in prostate cancer, however, the prognostic significance surrounding the specific sites of visceral metastasis remains unclear.

Loss of PTEN expression is associated with colorectal cancer liver metastasis and poor patient survival

open access: yesBMC Gastroenterology, 2008
Background The tumour suppressor phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) is an important negative regulator of cell-survival signaling. To evaluate the correlation between PTEN expression and clinicopathological characteristics of colorectal cancer ...

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...
