Long Non-Coding RNAs in Cardiac Remodeling [PDF]

open access: yesCellular Physiology and Biochemistry, 2017
Cardiac remodeling occurs after stress to the heart, manifested as pathological processes, including hypertrophy and apoptosis of cardiomyocytes, dysfunction of vascular endothelial cells and vascular smooth muscle cells as well as differentiation and proliferation of fibroblasts, ultimately resulting in progression of cardiovascular diseases. Emerging

MiRNA-related metastasis in oral cancer: moving and shaking

open access: yesCancer Cell International, 2023
Across the world, oral cancer is a prevalent tumor. Over the years, both its mortality and incidence have grown. Oral cancer metastasis is a complex process involving cell invasion, migration, proliferation, and egress from cancer tissue either by ...

Long Non-Coding RNAs: New Players in Hematopoiesis and Leukemia [PDF]

open access: yes
Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are important regulators of gene expression that influence almost every step in the life cycle of genes, from transcription to mRNA splicing, RNA decay, and translation.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

MALAT1 and MIAT as Emerging Biomarkers for Diabetic Retinopathy: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Medical Students
Background: Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a leading cause of preventable blindness, affecting nearly one-fourth of diabetic patients worldwide. Early diagnosis remains a major challenge due to reliance on labour-intensive, clinician-dependent fundoscopy.

Whole transcriptome sequencing of the aging rat brain reveals dynamic RNA changes in the dark matter of the genome [PDF]

open access: yes
Brain aging frequently underlies cognitive decline and is a major risk factor for neurodegenerative conditions. The exact molecular mechanisms underlying brain aging, however, remain unknown. Whole transcriptome sequencing provides unparalleled depth and

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Long non‐coding RNAs in cancer metabolism [PDF]

open access: yesBioEssays, 2016
Altered cellular metabolism is an emerging hallmark of cancer. Accumulating recent evidence links long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs), a still poorly understood class of non‐coding RNAs, to cancer metabolism. Here we review the emerging findings on the functions of lncRNAs in cancer metabolism, with particular emphasis on how lncRNAs regulate glucose and ...

Long non-coding RNA expression profile in cytogenetically normal acute myeloid leukemia identifies a distinct signature and a new biomarker in NPM1-mutated patients

open access: yesHaematologica, 2017
Long non-coding RNAs are defined as transcripts larger than 200 nucleotides but without protein-coding potential. There is growing evidence of the important role of long non-coding RNAs in cancer initiation, development and progression. In this study, we

Long Non-coding RNA Expression Profiling Identifies a Four-Long Non-coding RNA Prognostic Signature for Isocitrate Dehydrogenase Mutant Glioma

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2020
Background: Isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) mutant is one of the most robust and important genetic aberrations in glioma. However, the underlying regulation mechanism of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) in IDH mutant glioma has not been systematically ...
