Prostate-directed radiation therapy and overall survival for men with M1a prostate cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
101 Background: A recent randomized controlled trial demonstrated that radiation therapy to the prostate improves overall survival for men with newly diagnosed metastatic prostate cancer with a low metastatic burden.

tRNA-m1A methylation controls the infection of Magnaporthe oryzae by supporting ergosterol biosynthesis.

open access: yesDevelopmental Cell
Ergosterols are essential components of fungal plasma membranes. Inhibitors targeting ergosterol biosynthesis (ERG) genes are critical for controlling fungal pathogens, including Magnaporthe oryzae, the fungus that causes rice blast.

Comprehensive analyses of m1A regulator-mediated modification patterns determining prognosis in lower-grade glioma (running title: m1A in LGG)

open access: yesHeliyon
N1-methyladenosine (m1A) modification is a crucial post-transcriptional regulatory mechanism of messenger RNA (mRNA) in living organisms. Few studies have focused on analysis of m1A regulators in lower-grade gliomas (LGG). We employed the Nonnegative Matrix Factorization (NMF) technique on The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) dataset to categorize LGG ...

Loud and Clear Epitranscriptomic m1A Signals: Now in Single-Base Resolution [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular Cell, 2017
In this issue of Molecular Cell, Li et al. (2017) map N1-methyladenosine (m1A) with base precision, parsing the methylome into subsets differing in location, sequence-structure features, and catalyzing enzymes, thereby aiding functional investigation.

Everyday Stressors and Sense of Purpose: The Role of Stressor‐Related Opportunities for Goal Pursuit

open access: yesJournal of Personality, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This study examined whether everyday stressor occurrence is associated with lower sense of purpose, and whether this association depends on stressor‐related goal opportunities, the Big Five personality traits, or trait purpose. Methods Data came from the Daily Experiences and Health Study (N = 236, ages 25–87).

Periodontitis and Diabetes: Mechanistic Evidence of a Circular Relationship

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
This narrative review aimed to explore the underlying mechanisms that connect periodontitis to diabetes (and vice versa) and that influence disease susceptibility, progression and response to treatment. ABSTRACT The circular relationship between periodontitis and diabetes mellitus is one of the most established oral‐systemic links.

Origin and formation of a chondritic xenolith in Krymka (LL3.2, breccia): Indications for a late formation of the accretionary breccia

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract An unusual chondritic xenolith was found in two sequentially prepared thin sections of a sample from the Krymka (LL3.2) chondrite. The xenolith has a rounded, slightly deformed shape of about 5 mm in apparent diameter and is partially surrounded by a double rim made of an inner fine‐grained silicate‐rich rim and an outer sulfide‐rich rim.

A primordial RNA modification enzyme: the case of tRNA (m1A) methyltransferase [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The modified nucleoside 1-methyladenosine (m1A) is found in the T-loop of many tRNAs from organisms belonging to the three domains of life (Eukaryota, Bacteria, Archaea).

The Living Arrangements of Single Mothers in Latin America: Stratification by Education and Partnership Status

open access: yesPopulation and Development Review, EarlyView.
Abstract One in four young mothers in Latin America raises her children without a partner, yet more than two‐thirds do so within extended households, typically with their own parents. Despite the social implications of single‐parent families, it remains unclear to what extent the prevalence and living arrangements of single mothers have evolved over ...
