Invasion of transition hardwood forests by exotic Rhamnus frangula: Chronology and site requirements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The invasion chronology and site requirements of the exotic, invasive shrub, glossy buckthorn (Rhamnus frangula), were studied within intact transition hardwood---hemlock---white pine forests in Durham, NH. Data were collected from 63 plots (7 sites with

CRISPR‐MI and scRNA‐Seq Reveal TREM2's Function in Monocyte Infiltration and Macrophage Apoptosis During Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 48, December 29, 2025.
A method is developed for conducting genome‐wide CRISPR/Cas9 screening of monocyte infiltration in vivo (CRISPR‐MI) that is easily adaptable across a variety of disease models. Through the combination of CRISPR‐MI and scRNA‐Seq, this study discovers that Trem2 is a key regulator of early monocyte infiltration in abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA ...

Suppression of ILC2 differentiation from committed T cell precursors by E protein transcription factors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Current models propose that group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) are generated in the bone marrow. Here, we demonstrate that subsets of these cells can differentiate from multipotent progenitors and committed T cell precursors in the thymus, both in ...

Nutritional and Phytochemical Potential of Two Local Food Plants in Burkina Faso: Crateva adansonii and Capparis corymbosa

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 12, December 2025.
C. corymbosa and C. adansonii contain many nutrients and secondary metabolites and antioxidants. These activities were evaluated by standard methods. These metabolites are a factor in the fight against various diseases. ABSTRACT This study focused on the biochemical and nutritional characterization of two edible plant species in Burkina Faso: Capparis ...

Microglial Extracellular Vesicles Mediate C1q Deposition at the Pre‐Synapse and Promote Synaptic Pruning

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 14, Issue 12, December 2025.
Microglial EVs deliver C1q to pre‐synapses and promote synaptic pruning in vitro. C9orf72 KO microglia release more C1q‐storing EVs compared to WT and engulf more synapses in the hippocampus during the pruning period. Production of C1q‐storing EVs from WT microglia temporally correlates with the pruning period during postnatal development. ABSTRACT C1q

Depletion of Mac1-positive macrophages protects DBA/2 mice from encephalomyocarditis virus-induced myocarditis and diabetes

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1996
DBA/2 mice treated with anti-Mac1 monoclonal antibody (MAb) failed to develop encephalomyocarditis virus (EMCV)-induced diabetes and myocarditis. Virus concentrations and the number of viral RNA-positive cells in the pancreas and heart were significantly reduced in mice treated with anti-Mac1 MAb.

Mechanisms That Prevent Vascular Leakage During Leukocyte Extravasation

open access: yesActa Physiologica, Volume 241, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Inflammation is the response of the immune system against harmful stimuli in tissues. Leukocyte extravasation or TransEndothelial Migration (TEM) is a crucial step during inflammation, in which leukocytes migrate over the endothelial barrier toward the damaged tissue.

Detection of Dysplastic Intestinal Adenomas Using a Fluorescent Folate Imaging Probe

open access: yesMolecular Imaging, 2005
Macrophages have long been recognized as a prominent component of tumors. Activated macrophages overexpress folate receptors and we used this phenomenon to image inflammatory reactions in colon dysplasia using a fluorescent folate probe (FFP).

LFA-1 (CD11a/CD18) and Mac-1 (CD11b/CD18) distinctly regulate neutrophil extravasation through hotspots I and II

open access: yesExperimental and Molecular Medicine, 2019
Immune response: White blood cells follow the leader In response to infection or tissue damage, white blood cells known as leukocytes exit blood vessels at specific sites, “hotspots.” Many leukocytes follow each other out through the same hotspot.
