Synthesis of bis(indolylmaleimide) macrocycles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The synthesis of a novel class of macrocyclic bis(indolylmaleimides) is reported. The key step involves the intermolecular connection of 2,2'-bridged indoles with 3,4-dibromo-2,5-dihydro-1H-2,5-pyrroledione (dibromomaleimide) derivatives.

“One Ring to Bind Them All”—Part II: Identification of Promising G-Quadruplex Ligands by Screening of Cyclophane-Type Macrocycles

open access: yesJournal of Nucleic Acids, 2010
A collection of 26 polyammonium cyclophane-type macrocycles with a large structural diversity has been screened for G-quadruplex recognition. A two-step selection procedure based on the FRET-melting assay was carried out enabling identification of ...

Diaquabromidocopper(II)–18-crown-6–water (1/1/2)

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2010
In the title compound, [CuBr2(H2O)2]·C12H24O6·2H2O, the CuII atom, which is situated on an inversion centre and has a slightly distorted square-planar geometry, and the two coordinated water molecules are linked to the 18-crown-6 ...

Synthesis of Tetrathia–Oligothiophene Macrocycles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The synthesis of six tetrathia–oligothiophene macrocycles is described with modest ring-closing yields between 21 and 55%. Single-crystal X-ray studies of four of the macrocycles indicated that encapsulated solvent or guest molecules were possible.

1,2,3-Triazolium macrocycles in supramolecular chemistry

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2019
In this short review, we describe different pathways for synthesizing 1,2,3-triazolium macrocycles and focus on their application in different areas of supramolecular chemistry.

Macrocycle-Based Supramolecular Drug Delivery Systems: A Concise Review

open access: yesMolecules
Efficient delivery of therapeutic agents to the lesion site or specific cells is an important way to achieve “toxicity reduction and efficacy enhancement”. Macrocycles have always provided many novel ideas for drug or gene loading and delivery processes.

Evaluation of the Interaction between Long Telomeric DNA and Macrocyclic Hexaoxazole (6OTD) Dimer of a G-quadruplex Ligand

open access: yesMolecules, 2013
Macrocyclic hexaoxazole dimer of L2H2-6OTD-dimer (3) was newly synthesized as a telomeric G-quadruplex (G4) ligand, and interaction with long telomeric DNAs telo48, 72, and 96 was evaluated by means of electrophoresis mobility shift assay, CD spectra ...

Evolutionary, Functional and Mechanistic Characterisation of Microbial Terpene Synthase‐Like Genes From Springtails

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
A genome analysis revealed the presence of many bacterial‐type terpene synthases in springtails. Four enzymes from Sinella curviseta were functionally characterised, resulting in the isolation of several compounds including sinellene ether, the first diterpene ether identified from a terpene synthase that represents a novel skeleton.

Aromatic Oligoamide Macrocycles with a Backbone of Reduced Constraint [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Oligoamide macrocycles with a backbone partially constrained by hydrogen bonds have been prepared. These macrocycles, carrying multiple H-bonding side chains, underwent strong aggregation in solution and form long fibers in the solid state.
