Poly(I:C)‐Activated Nasal Fibroblasts Promote Eosinophil Recruitment in CRSwNP

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is characterized by persistent mucosal inflammation and eosinophilic infiltration. Although epithelial and immune cells have been widely studied, the role of nasal fibroblasts in innate immune activation and eosinophil recruitment remains unclear.

Macrolide and macrolide-related antibacterial agents

open access: yesFolia Pharmacologica Japonica, 2007

Macrolide myths [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Opinion in Microbiology, 2008
In spite of decades of research, our knowledge of the mode of interaction of macrolide antibiotics with their ribosomal target and of the mechanism of action of these drugs remain fragmentary. Experimental facts obtained over the past several years question some of the concepts that were viewed as a 'common knowledge'.

High levels of macrolide-resistant Mycoplasma genitalium in Queensland, Australia

open access: yes, 2017
The macrolide azithromycin is recommended for treatment of Mycoplasma genitalium infection; however, M. genitalium strains possessing macrolide resistance-mediating mutations (MRMMs) are increasingly being reported.

Targeting potassium channels and autophagy to defeat chemoresistance

open access: yesMolecular & Cellular Oncology, 2020
Both autophagy and hERG1 potassium channels have been shown to promote tumor progression and resistance to treatment. Our findings indicate that the antibiotic clarithromycin can target hERG1 and modulate autophagy to promote the death of chemoresistant ...

Understanding the spread of de novo and transmitted macrolide-resistance in Mycoplasma genitalium. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Background The rapid spread of azithromycin resistance in sexually transmitted Mycoplasma genitalium infections is a growing concern. It is not yet clear to what degree macrolide resistance in M.

Synergistic Advanced Oxidation and Physicochemical Treatment Strategies for Antibiotic Removal and Resistance Mitigation in Water

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The presence of antibiotics in water not only causes environmental pollution but also increases the growth of antibiotic‐resistant bacterial genes, which pose serious threats to human beings and other water residents. Large numbers of people are reportedly affected by the resistant bacterial genes, as many broad‐spectrum antibiotics are not ...
