ABSTRACT Major depression and suicide are critical public health concerns, particularly in underrepresented populations with unique genetic and sociocultural contexts. The Maya‐mestizo population presents the highest suicide rates in the country but remains understudied in psychiatric genetics. This study evaluated the association between three genetic

MafB, a new Maf family transcription activator that can associate with Maf and Fos but not with Jun.
We have identified a new member of the maf oncogene family and named it mafB. This gene is expressed in a wide variety of tissues and encodes a protein of 311 amino acids containing a typical bZip motif in its carboxy-terminal region. In the bZip domain, MafB shares extensive homology not only with v-Maf but also with other Maf-related proteins.

ABSTRACT Background Bitter taste receptors (T2Rs) function in the innate immune defense of the sinonasal mucosa; however, the genetic association between the TAS2R gene family and chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) remains understudied in Asian populations.

Differential expression of maf-1 and maf-2 genes in the developing rat lens.
To examine the expression of maf-1 and maf-2 protocogenes in the developing rat lens.Maf-1 and maf-2 transcripts were assayed in rat lenses on embryonic days 13 and 16 (E13 and E16) by in situ hybridization using single-stranded RNA probes. Proteins encoded by the maf-2 gene were assayed immunocytochemically in embryonic (E12, 13, 16, 19) and postnatal

Lung cancer cell lines diverge substantially from primary tumors at the transcriptional level. Using single‐sample gene set enrichment analysis and L1‐penalized feature selection across TCGA‐LUAD and CCLE‐LUAD, we identified five Hallmark pathways (E2F targets, G2M checkpoint, IFNγ response, coagulation, and EMT) that discriminated primary tumors from ...

Genetic Diversity, Adaptation, Wild Introgression, and Coat Color Mutation of Golden Yak
Genetic diversity, adaptation, wild introgression, and coat color mutation of golden yak from two populations on the Qinghai‐Xizang Plateau. ABSTRACT The golden yak lives on the Qinghai‐Xizang Plateau with a golden coat and adapts to high altitudes and strong ultraviolet environment. The golden coat is a prominent phenotype in many domesticated species,
