Paralytic shellfish toxins and ocean warming: bioaccumulation and ecotoxicological responses in jujvenile Gilthead Seabream (Sparus aurata) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Warmer seawater temperatures are expected to increase harmful algal blooms (HABs) occurrence, intensity, and distribution. Yet, the potential interactions between abiotic stressors and HABs are still poorly understood from ecological and seafood safety ...

Targeted H2S Delivery System Attenuates Blood‐Spinal Cord Barrier Disruption after Spinal Cord Injury by Reshaping the Ferritinophagy Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The αvβ3‐mediated SPRC@MPDA‐RGD targets broken endothelial cells and controllably releases SPRC. CSE is then activated to produce endogenous H2S, which inhibits ferritinophagy. In brief, H2S inhibits autophagy by activating the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway, thereby suppressing the ferroptosis process mediated by NCOA4, and ultimately promoting the ...

Multi‐Organelle Stress‐Induced Paraptosis by a ROS‐Amplifying Nanocatalyst for Enhanced Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The engineered TF‐Fe@LC nanoplatform programs paraptotic death via multipath ROS amplification that disrupts redox homeostasis, provoking mitochondrial dysfunction, autophagic blockade, and ER stress. This caspase‐independent process elicits robust immunogenic cell death, combining with αPD‐L1 to activate systemic CD8+ T‐cell immunity and suppress ...

The Influence of Ethanolic Extract of Hypericum Perforatum (St. John's wort) on Growth Performance, Serum Metabolites, Fat Deposition, Immunity, and Lipid Peroxidation in Broiler Chickens

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science
Background Having bioactive components such as hypericin, hyperforin and quercetin has enabled Hypericum perforatum (HP) to show antioxidant, antiviral and hypocholesterolemic effects in different animal species.

Androgen Receptor‐Induced Lactoferrin Accelerates Prostate Tumorigenesis Through Modulating Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that transcription factor androgen receptor (AR) directly binds the LF promoter, driving lactoferrin overexpression to promote ferritin (FTH1/FTL) upregulation and inhibit p53‐ALOX12‐mediated ferroptosis in prostate cancer. Lactoferrin could be a new potential therapeutic target in prostate cancer.

Estimation of serum malondialdehyde in potentially malignant disorders and post-antioxidant treated patients: A biochemical study

open access: yesContemporary Clinical Dentistry, 2012
Background: Tobacco causes the generation of free radicals and reactive oxygen species (ROS) which are responsible for the high rate of lipid peroxidation.

AML‐Targeted Metal‐Polyphenol Nanoplatform Induces Ferroptosis‐ICD Cascade for Antitumor Immunity Boosting

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of the synthesis protocol for Fe‐SH@Fn, an AML‐targeted nanoplatform engineered to co‐deliver shikonin (SH) and Fe3+, synergistically boosting antitumor immunity via ferroptosis induction and immunogenic cell death (ICD). ABSTRACT Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) remains a therapeutic challenge due to its low immunogenicity and ...

Infant Milk Formulas: Effect of Storage Conditions on the Stability of Powdered Products towards Autoxidation

open access: yesFoods, 2015
Thirty samples of powdered infant milk formulas containing polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) have been stored at four different temperatures (20, 28, 40 and 55 °C) and periodically monitored for their malondialdehyde (MDA) content up to one year.
