Histamine in Brazilian Foods: A Comprehensive Review of Occurrence and Risk Assessment for Intoxication and Intolerance

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 11, November 2025.
Even though histamine plays an important role in human health, it has been associated with food intoxication and intolerance episodes. The most relevant, current state of knowledge regarding histamine's biochemical and health aspects is provided. Histamine levels are provided for 17 food groups, including 335 food types and 11,437 samples, allowing ...

Increase in Ascorbate Content of Transgenic Tobacco Plants Overexpressing the Acerola (Malpighia glabra) Phosphomannomutase Gene [PDF]

open access: yesPlant and Cell Physiology, 2008
Phosphomannomutase (PMM; EC 5.4.2.8) catalyzes the interconversion of mannose-6-phosphate to mannose-1-phosphate in the Smirnoff-Wheeler pathway for the biosynthesis of l-ascorbic acid (AsA). We have cloned the PMM cDNA from acerola (Malpighia glabra), a plant containing an enormous amount of AsA. The AsA contents correlate with the PMM gene expression

Pest categorisation of Coccus viridis

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 23, Issue 7, July 2025.
Abstract The EFSA Panel on Plant Health performed a pest categorisation of Coccus viridis (Hemiptera: Coccidae), the green coffee scale, for the territory of the European Union (EU), following the commodity risk assessment of Jasminum polyanthum from Uganda, in which C. viridis was identified as a pest of possible concern to the EU.

Caracterização nutricional e compostos antioxidantes em resíduos de polpas de frutas tropicais Nutritional characterization and antioxidant compounds in pulp residues of tropical fruits

Phylogenetics and morphological character evolution in the achyranthoid clade (Amaranthaceae): Evidence to re‐circumscribe the genera Achyranthes and Cyathula and to resurrect a third species of the former genus Sericocomopsis in East Africa

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 74, Issue 1, Page 66-100, February 2025.
Abstract The achyranthoid clade constitutes the second most species‐rich lineage of the Amaranthaceae after the gomphrenoid clade. The Achyranthoids are mostly African, in contrast to the largely Neotropical Gomphrenoids, and comprise a large number of genera, many of which were revealed as non‐monophyletic.
