RECOMBINANT HUMAN MANNAN-BINDING LECTIN

1999
The present invention relates to methods of producing and/or isolating MEL compositions. In particular the invention relates to methods of producing and/or isolating novel recombinant human MEL preparations with high similarity to natural human MEL.

Single-nucleotide polymorphisms in porcine mannan-binding lectin A

Immunogenetics, 2006
The MBL1 and MBL2 genes encode mannan-binding lectins (MBL) A and C, respectively, that are collagenous lectins (collectins) produced mainly by the liver. Several single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the human MBL2 gene are responsible for various innate immune dysfunctions due to abnormal structure or expression of human MBL-C.

Mannan-binding protein, a complement activating animal lectin

Immunopharmacology, 1992
Mannan-binding protein is an animal serum lectin (i.e. a molecule with the ability to bind specifically to certain carbohydrate structures). The relevant carbohydrate ligands are found on many pathogenic microorganisms. After binding to suitable carbohydrate ligands, mannan-binding protein is found to be an activator of the classical pathway of ...

Mannan‐binding lectin and its role in innate immunity

Transfusion Medicine, 2002
Summary Mannan‐binding lectin (MBL) is a plasma collectin (C‐type lectin with a collagen‐like domain) and is considered an important component of innate immunity. Circulating MBL is genetically determined for the major part, but plasma concentration is also markedly influenced by nongenetic factors.

Phospholipid-binding activity of human mannan-binding lectin

Immunology Letters, 1998
Some C-type lectins possess phospholipid-binding ability, which may be of physiological importance. Human mannan-binding lectin (MBL) was found to bind specifically to solid-phase phosphatidylserine (PS), phosphatidylinositol (PI) and phosphatidylcholine (PC), but not cardiolipin (CL), in a concentration-dependent manner. This property was inhibited by
