Matrix metalloproteinase-2 promoter variability in psoriasis

Archives of Dermatological Research, 2009
The expression of matrix metalloproteinase-2 was observed to be significantly upregulated in psoriasis. The aim of this study was to associate the DNA polymorphic variants in MMP-2 promoter gene with psoriasis and/or with psoriasis phenotypes related to psoriasis and comorbid heredity.

Serum activity of matrix metalloproteinases-2 and-9

Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2006
Matrix metalloproteinases belong to the key effectors of tissue remodeling in health and disease. Matrix metalloproteinases -2 and -9, the most prevalent representatives of this family, are expressed in the endometrium. Chronic endometritis concomitant with sterility and spontaneous abortions is associated with decreased content of matrix ...

Arylsulfonamides and selectivity of matrix metalloproteinase-2: An overview

European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2017
Uncontrolled regulation of specific metalloenzymes plays important roles in several diseases like tumor metastasis and inflammation. Therefore, selective metalloenzyme inhibition may be a potential target for drug design and development. Matrix metalloproteinase inhibitors (MMPIs) opened up a new horizon as the possible treatment of arthritis, cancer ...

Evaluation of matrix metalloproteinase‐2 in lung cancer

PROTEOMICS – Clinical Applications, 2014
PurposeThere is an obvious need to diagnose lung cancer using novel noninvasive and sensitive biomarkers. In this regard, the aim of the present study was to evaluate and compare sputum matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP‐2) in relation to serum MMP‐2 of lung cancer patients and other nonmalignant lung diseases in order to establish a new diagnostic and ...

Matrix metalloproteinase 2 and 9 in esophageal cancer

International Journal of Oncology, 1996
To search for the biochemical properties of esophageal carcinoma relevant to its aggressive behavior, we studied metalloproteinases released from surgical specimens of the carcinoma. In an assay with [H-3]-labeled gelatin, esophageal carcinoma tissues showed gelatinolytic activities clearly higher than those of paired normal mucosae.

Neutrophil activator of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (NAM)

Clinical & Experimental Metastasis, 2006
We have isolated a novel soluble factor(s), neutrophil activator of matrix metalloproteinases (NAM), secreted by unstimulated normal human peripheral blood neutrophils that causes the activation of cell secreted promatrix metalloproteinase-2 (proMMP-2).

Polymorphisms in the matrix metalloproteinase‐2 and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase‐2 and the risk of human adenomyosis

Environmental and Molecular Mutagenesis, 2008
AbstractThe matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases (TIMPs) may contribute to the development of adenomyosis. The aim of the present study was to investigate whether three single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the promoter regions of MMP‐2 (−1306C/T and −735C/T) and TIMP‐2 (‐418G/C) genes were related to the risk

Matrix Metalloproteinase-2 and −9 Involvement in Canine Tumors

Veterinary Pathology, 2003
Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are a family of enzymes implicated in the degradation and remodeling of extracellular matrix and in vascularization. They are also involved in pathologic processes such as tumor invasion and metastasis in experimental cancer models and in human malignancies.

Matrix Metalloproteinase-2 and -9 Levels in Obese Patients

Endothelium, 2008
The data reported in literature revealed a novel function for matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) as modulators of adipogenesis. However, their expression profile and role in the cellular microenvironment during obesity-mediated adipose tissue development remain poorly defined.

Dynamic alterations of connexin43, matrix metalloproteinase-2 and tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase-2 during ventricular fibrillation in canine

Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, 2014
The aim of this study is to investigate the dynamic alterations of cardiac connexin 43 (Cx43), matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-2 (TIMP-2) in the setting of different ventricular fibrillation (VF) duration. In this study, thirty-two dogs were randomly divided into sham control group, 8-min VF group, 12-min VF
