Evidence for a prepore stage in the action of Clostridium perfringens epsilon toxin. [PDF]

Clostridium perfringens epsilon toxin (ETX) rapidly kills MDCK II cells at 37°C, but not 4°C. The current study shows that, in MDCK II cells, ETX binds and forms an oligomeric complex equally well at 37°C and 4°C but only forms a pore at 37°C.

GM1 ganglioside carrying a fluorescent fatty acid in substitution of the natural one, has been administered to cultured Madin‐Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cells for different pulse times (0.5–24 h), and its metabolic fate was followed. The fluorescent GM2, asialo‐GM2, asialo‐GM1 and ceramide were the only detectable metabolites.

Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Shear-induced Volume Decrease in MDCK Cells [PDF]

Using a microfluidic cell volume sensor we measured the change in the cell volume of Madin-Darby Canine Kidney (MDCK) cells induced by shear stress. An increase in shear stress from 0.2 to 2.0 dyn/cm(2) resulted in a volume decrease to a steady state volume ∼ 20 - 30 % smaller than the initial resting cell volume.
