DNMT1 expression partially dictates 5-Azacytidine sensitivity and correlates with RAS/MEK/ERK activity in gastric cancer cells

open access: yesEpigenetics, 2023
Though DNMTs inhibitors were widely used in myelodysplastic syndrome and leukaemia, their application in solid tumours has been limited by low response rate and lack of optimal combination strategies.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Evidence for an Oceanic Source of Methyl Ethyl Ketone to the Atmosphere

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2020
Methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) is a relatively abundant but understudied oxygenated volatile organic compound that can serve as a source of both HOx and PAN when photooxidized.

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Clean production of methyl ethyl ketone (MEK)

open access: yesRevista Facultad de Ingeniería Universidad de Antioquia, 2004
Methyl ethyl ketone oxime (MEKO) was obtained by reaction of methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) with ammonia and hydrogen peroxide using titanium silicalite-1 (TS-1) as catalyst. The effect of reaction temperature, type of solvent, molar ratios of NH3/MEK, H2O2/

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Evolution of melanoma cross-resistance to CD8+ T cells and MAPK inhibition in the course of BRAFi treatment

open access: yesOncoImmunology, 2018
The profound but frequently transient clinical responses to BRAFV600 inhibitor (BRAFi) treatment in melanoma emphasize the need for combinatorial therapies.
