Transcriptomics Integrated with Free and Bound Terpenoid Aroma Profiling during "Shine Muscat" (Vitis labrusca × V. vinifera) Grape Berry Development Reveals Coordinate Regulation of MEP Pathway and Terpene Synthase Gene Expression.

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2021
Terpenes and their derivatives are important biomarkers of grape quality as they contribute to the flavor and aroma of grapes. However, the molecular basis of terpene biosynthesis throughout the grapevine phenological developmental cycle remains elusive.

Engineering the MEP pathway enhanced ajmalicine biosynthesis

Biotechnology and Applied Biochemistry, 2014
AbstractThe 2‐C‐methyl‐D‐erythritol‐4‐phosphate (MEP) pathway genes encoding DXR and MECS from Taxus species and STR from Catharanthus roseus were used to genetically modify the ajmalicine biosynthetic pathway in hairy root cultures of C. roseus. As expected, the STR‐overexpressed root cultures showed twofold higher accumulation of ajmalicine than the ...

Probable Novel MEP Pathway Inhibitor and Its Binding Protein, IspG

Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 2013
A second isoprene unit biosynthetic pathway, via 2-C-methyl-D-erythritol 4-phosphate (MEP), was discovered in the 1990s. We screened and isolated the cyclic dipeptide, maculosin, which is a probable novel MEP pathway inhibitor, from the culture broth of Bacillus subtilis strain KN07.

Synthesis and Evaluation of Halogenated 5-(2-Hydroxyphenyl)pyrazoles as Pseudilin Analogues Targeting the Enzyme IspD in the MEP Pathway.

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2020
This work reports halogenated 5-(2-hydroxyphenyl)pyrazoles as pseudilin analogues with the potential to target the enzyme IspD in the MEP pathway.

Pathways to the European Parliament:An exploratory analysis of MEPs’ career patterns of Belgian, Irish, German, Swedish and British MEPs [PDF]

open access: possible, 2020
The European Parliament (EP)’s formal authority has considerably expanded since 1979. Yet, the EP evolves and achieves its formal policy-making capacity along with the typesof Members of the EP (MEPs) attracted to serve into it. Indeed, the EP is not only populated by European ‘careerists’, but also ‘rookies’ without legislative experience or MEPs ...

Network Analysis of the MVA and MEP Pathways for Isoprenoid Synthesis

Annual Review of Plant Biology, 2013
Isoprenoid biosynthesis is essential for all living organisms, and isoprenoids are also of industrial and agricultural interest. All isoprenoids are derived from prenyl diphosphate (prenyl-PP) precursors. Unlike isoprenoid biosynthesis in other living organisms, prenyl-PP, as the precursor of all isoprenoids in plants, is synthesized by two ...

Biosynthesis of isoprene in Escherichia coli via methylerythritol phosphate (MEP) pathway

Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2011
Isoprene is an aviation fuel of high quality and an important polymer building block in the synthetic chemistry industry. In light of high oil prices, sustained availability, and environmental concerns, isoprene from renewable materials is contemplated as a substitute for petroleum-based product.

Metabolic Engineering of the MEP Pathway in Bacillus subtilis for Increased Biosynthesis of Menaquinone-7.

ACS Synthetic Biology, 2019
Vitamin K is essential for blood coagulation and plays important roles in bone and cardiovascular health. Menaquinone-7 (MK-7) is one form of vitamin K that is especially useful due to its long half-life in the circulation.

The expression of TwDXS in the MEP pathway specifically affects the accumulation of triptolide.

Physiologia Plantarum : An International Journal for Plant Biology, 2019
1-Deoxy-d-xylulose-5-phosphate synthase (DXS) is the first enzyme in the plant 2-C-methyl-d-erythritol 4-phosphate (MEP) pathway of terpenoid synthesis. TwDXS is a prominent protein in the Tripterygium wilfordii proteome, with especially high expression ...
