In Vitro Generation of Neuromesodermal Progenitors Reveals Distinct Roles for Wnt Signalling in the Specification of Spinal Cord and Paraxial Mesoderm Identity

open access: yesPLoS Biology, 2014
Timed pulses of WNT and FGF signaling convert human and mouse pluripotent stem cells into neuromesodermal progenitors that can be directed to differentiate into spinal cord and paraxial mesoderm ...

Brg1 modulates enhancer activation in mesoderm lineage commitment

open access: yesDevelopment, 2015
The interplay between different levels of gene regulation in modulating developmental transcriptional programs, such as histone modifications and chromatin remodeling, is not well understood.

Zebrafish frizzled7b is expressed in prechordal mesoderm, brain and paraxial mesoderm

open access: yesMechanisms of Development, 2002
Frizzled (fz) genes encode receptors for the Wnt signaling pathway. We describe a novel fz gene, zebrafish fz7b. Maternal fz7b mRNA is detectable by RT-PCR. Embryonic fz7b is widely distributed in early epiboly stage embryos. By shield stage, expression appears enriched around the blastoderm margin.

Cerberus is a feedback inhibitor of Nodal asymmetric signaling in the chick embryo [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The TGF-beta-related molecule Nodal plays an essential and conserved role in left-right patterning of the vertebrate embryo. Previous reports have shown that the zebrafish and mouse Cerberus-related proteins Charon and Cerberus-like-2 (Cerl-2 ...

A three-component model of the spinal nerve ramification: Bringing together the human gross anatomy and modern Embryology

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2023
Due to its long history, the study of human gross anatomy has not adequately incorporated modern embryological findings; consequently, the current understanding has often been incompatible with recent discoveries from molecular studies.

Gene regulatory network subcircuit controlling a dynamic spatial pattern of signaling in the sea urchin embryo [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We dissect the transcriptional regulatory relationships coordinating the dynamic expression patterns of two signaling genes, wnt8 and delta, which are central to specification of the sea urchin embryo endomesoderm.

Targeted Disruption of TCF12 Reveals HEB as Essential in Human Mesodermal Specification and Hematopoiesis

open access: yesStem Cell Reports, 2017
Hematopoietic stem cells arise from mesoderm-derived hemogenic endothelium (HE) during embryogenesis in a process termed endothelial-hematopoietic transition (EHT).

Early markers of induced pluripotent stem cell hematopoietic development

open access: yesМедицинская иммунология
The generation of immune cell populations from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) is a valuable model to study mechanisms that control hematopoietic development; it also is a promising approach to develop immunotherapeutic strategies to treat various
