GLP‐1 Receptor Agonists and Weight Loss: A Critical Review of Mechanisms

open access: yesObesity Reviews, Volume 27, Issue 11, November 2026.
ABSTRACT GLP‐1 receptor agonist medications have the potential to promote marked weight loss, but maximal and sustained benefit may be compromised by poor compliance and cessation of use. Development of next‐generation medications that address current obstacles to effective use and development of effective adjunct treatments will benefit from better ...

Cortisol Dynamics at High Temporal Resolution For Wearable Biosensor Research

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, Volume 5, Issue 10, October 2026.
High‐frequency cortisol profiling reveals that endocrine responses depend strongly on both stressor type and the individual. Circadian sampling shows a consistent morning‐to‐evening decline, while cold exposure elicits delayed rises and exercise and cognitive challenges produce divergent trajectories.

Gabapentinoids‐duloxetine combination therapy for chronic pain: A mechanism oriented rational to bridge theoretical knowledge and real life setting

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 92, Issue 10, Page 3333-3353, October 2026.
Chronic pain represents a complex debilitating condition that extends beyond the protective function of physiological pain, often persisting as an independent disease entity. Chronic primary and secondary pain syndromes reflect a multifaceted continuum involving nociceptive, neuropathic and nociplastic mechanisms.

The involvement of mesolimbic dopaminergic system in ovulation in rat (Rattus norvegicus)

open access: yes, 2015
Mesolimbic dopaminergic system involvement in the ovulatory process was studied in the immature su'perovulation rats (Rartus norvegicus). Nucleus ventralis tegmenti (NVT, area A-10) was neurochemically lesioned by stereotaxically placed injection of I Vg

On the importance of including both sexes in animal studies – insights from home‐cage monitoring

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 5, Page 2408-2426, October 2026.
ABSTRACT A review of behavioural studies using home‐cage monitoring (HCM) systems revealed that over 61% of studies used only male subjects, with only 24% including both sexes, despite evidence of substantial behavioural differences between male and female animals. This bias could influence the outcomes of biomedical research.

The Real‐World Safety Profile of Haloperidol: A Comprehensive Pharmacovigilance Analysis Using the Large‐Scale FAERS Database

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 10, October 2026.
This first comprehensive FAERS‐based pharmacovigilance analysis of haloperidol over two decades characterized the real‐world safety profile across 9916 reports. Strong signals were found for nervous, psychiatric, and cardiac disorders. Known risks were confirmed and novel signals revealed. Sex‐ and age‐specific vulnerabilities were identified. Findings

Cortical Thickness and Appetite Hormones in Adolescent Obesity and Binge Eating Disorder: A Comparative Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Eating Disorders, Volume 59, Issue 10, Page 2259-2267, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective This study examined cortical thickness and appetite‐regulating hormones—neuropeptide Y (NPY) and ghrelin—to better understand the neurobiological mechanisms underlying binge eating disorder (BED) and obesity in adolescence. We compared adolescents with BED and obesity, adolescents with obesity without BED, and healthy controls (HCs),

Acute Effects of Brief Exercise on Alcohol Craving Among Young Adults With Problematic Alcohol Use: A Systematic Review

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Sport Science, Volume 26, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Alcohol craving is a key process in alcohol abuse, especially during young adulthood, a period of heightened vulnerability and continued brain development. Although acute physical exercise has been proposed as a potential strategy to reduce craving and modulate affective and cognitive processes, current evidence remains limited regarding its ...

The Effects of Cocaine Abuse on Functional Connectivity within the Mesolimbic Pathway

open access: yes, 2011
With an estimated 1.5 million chronic cocaine users in the U.S., cocaine abuse is a considerable public health concern (Bolla et al., 2004). The mood elevation and euphoria associated with cocaine use is the result of the inhibition of the reuptake of ...
