Metallo beta lactamase producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baumannii

open access: yesIndian Journal of Medical Microbiology, 2011
This study aims in identifying MBLs particularly Zn requiring Molecular Class B enzymes produced by Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baumannii .The resistance by these organisms are in a rise against all antibiotics including carbapenems and no prescribed CLSI guidelines is available for detecting them.

Prevalence of metallo-β-lactamase-encoding genes among carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains isolated from burn patients in Iran

open access: yesRevista da Sociedade Brasileira de Medicina Tropical
Carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa (CRPA) has been considered a major cause of infection and mortality in burn patients, especially in developing countries such as Iran. One of the most common mechanisms of carbapenem resistance is production of

Ceftibuten stability to active-site serine and metallo-ß-lactamases

open access: yes, 2001
Ceftibuten is an oral third-generation cephalosporin active against a wide range of bacteria and shows an improved stability to hydrolysis by several beta -lactamases because of the carboxyethilidine moiety at position 7 of the beta -acyl side chain. The

A STUDY OF METALLO-BETA-LACTATAMASE PRODUCING PSEUDOMONAS AERUGINOSA IN CLINICAL SAMPLES OF S.S.G. HOSPITAL

open access: yesNational Journal of Medical Research, 2011
Introduction: Pseudomonas spp. is common pathogen causing nosocomial infection. Acquired drug resistance is frequent in nosocomial isolates of Pseudomonas spp. Acquired metallo-β-lactamases (MBL) in pseudomonas spp.

Epidemiology of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae in a pediatric hospital in a country with high endemicity

open access: yesJournal of Infection and Public Health, 2019
Background: Little is known about epidemiology of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae (CPE) in children. Aim of this study was to describe CPE epidemiology in a tertiary care pediatric hospital in Italy that admits patients coming from geographic ...

Metallo-beta-lactamases: novel weaponry for antibiotic resistance in bacteria

open access: yes, 2006
Metallo-beta-lactamases are broad-spectrum zinc enzymes, able to inactivate most clinically useful beta-lactam antibiotics. Their structural and functional diversity has thus far limited the understanding of their catalytic mechanism, therefore thwarting

Comparative Study of Biofilm and Non-Biofilm Producing Klebsiella pneumoniae with Special Reference to Metallo-Beta-Lactamase Production

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Microbiology
Klebsiella pneumoniae is one of the most common bacteria among all biofilm-producing as well as the beta-lactamase producing strains, which is responsible for multi-drug resistance.
