Genetic Determination of Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia Formation: Pros and Cons
Currently, researches are being actively carried out to identify genetic risk factors for the development of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in premature infants, including genetic polymorphism encoding surfactants, matrix metalloproteinases, cytokines,

Matrix Metalloproteinases and Tissue Inhibitors of Metalloproteinases [PDF]
Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), also designated matrixins, hydrolyze components of the extracellular matrix. These proteinases play a central role in many biological processes, such as embryogenesis, normal tissue remodeling, wound healing, and angiogenesis, and in diseases such as atheroma, arthritis, cancer, and tissue ulceration.

Metalloproteinases as mediators of inflammation and the eyes: molecular genetic underpinnings governing ocular pathophysiology [PDF]
There are many vision threatening diseases of the eye affecting millions of people worldwide. In this article, we are summarizing potential role of various matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs); the Zn (2+)-dependent endoproteases in eye health along with ...

Zymography of Metalloproteinases
AbstractZymography is an electrophoretic technique enabling visualization of the number and approximate size of peptidases in a sample on the basis of their hydrolysis of a protein substrate within the gel. The technique is particularly useful for analyzing the peptidase composition of complex biological samples because visualization depends directly ...

Evaluation of the Inhibition of other Metalloproteinases by Matrix Metalloproteinase Inhibitors [PDF]
Two series of compounds synthesized as specific matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) inhibitors have been evaluated for their inhibition of non-MMPs. In a series of substituted succinyl hydroxamic acids, some were found to be significant (IC50 < 1 microM) inhibitors of leucine (microsomal) aminopeptidase, neprilysin (3.4.24.11), and thermolysin.
