Influence of Metamizole on Antitumour Activity of Risedronate Sodium in In Vitro Studies on Canine (D-17) and Human (U-2 OS) Osteosarcoma Cell Lines

open access: yesBiomedicines
The availability of metamizole varies greatly around the world. There are countries such as the USA, UK, or Australia where the use of metamizole is completely forbidden, and there are also countries where this drug is available only on prescription (e.g.

Dual versus single vessel normothermic ex vivo perfusion of rat liver grafts using metamizole for vasodilatation.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
BACKGROUND:Normothermic ex vivo liver perfusion (NEVLP) is a promising strategy to increase the donor pool in liver transplantation. Small animal models are essential to further investigate questions regarding organ preservation and reconditioning by ...

Significant neutropenia induced by metamizole dependent neutrophil antibodies: Metamizole and neutropenia

open access: yesBlood Transfusion, 2023
PREVIEW Dear Sir, Neutrophils play an important role for the elimination of pathogens during infections. Neutropenia results either from enhanced peripheral neutrophil destruction or decreased neutrophil production. Based on severity, neutropenia is divided in three categories: mild, absolute neutrophil count (ANC)

The quantitative impact of metabolism‐inhibiting drugs on the occurrence of adverse drug reactions—A backward selection approach

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 92, Issue 7, Page 2203-2211, July 2026.
Abstract Aim The quantitative effect of several inhibitory drugs on the development of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) is currently difficult to estimate. Our aim was to identify metabolic pathways, which, when inhibited, increase the risk for certain ADRs, and to use this system to consider comedication at individual level. Methods Data of a prospective

Safety of metamizole analgesic therapy in patients with dyspepsia syndrome: a case report

open access: yesJurnal Teknologi Laboratorium, 2023
The selection of drugs in patients who have experienced dyspepsia syndrome needs to be studied for its use. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are a class of drugs that are effective in controlling various inflammatory conditions and treating

Diagnostic Impact of Liver Biopsy Among Antinuclear Antibody Positive Individuals With Mild Liver Enzyme Elevation

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 64, Issue 1, Page 103-111, July 2026.
In ANA‐positive patients with suspected autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), liver biopsy rarely altered therapeutic management when alanine aminotransferase (ALT) was below 101 U/L and cirrhosis was absent. These findings suggest that biopsy may be safely deferred in this low‐risk group.

The Predictive Accuracy of Methods Commonly Used for Evaluating Animal Distress

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 11, 15 June 2026.
Predictive accuracy of body weight change, distress score, burrowing, and nesting behavior across multiple intervention phases. ABSTRACT Accurate distress assessment is essential for ensuring animal welfare and scientific validity. Although behavioral and physiological indicators are commonly used, their predictive value across disease models and ...

Safety of Metamizole Therapy

open access: yesBiuletyn Głównej Biblioteki Lekarskiej, 2023
Summary Metamizole (dipyrone) is a popular non-opioid analgesic and antipyretic drug. In many countries, it has been banned because of a possible association with several adverse drug reactions; in some countries it is available as a prescribed drug. In Poland, dipyrone is sold as an over-the-counter (OTC) drug.

Divergent Resilience of Bacterial and Fungal Gut Microbiota After Colorectal Surgery: Insights From a Prospective Longitudinal Cohort Study

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
Patients undergoing colorectal surgery (n = 59) were sampled before and after surgery to investigate perioperative microbiome dynamics. Using 16S rRNA and ITS2 genes amplicon sequencing, bacterial diversity significantly decreased postoperatively, while fungal communities remained resilient.

Metamizole in the Management of Musculoskeletal Disorders: Current Concept Review

open access: yes
Metamizole, or dipyrone, has been used for decades as a non-narcotic analgesic, providing pain relief from musculoskeletal disorders and antipyretic and antispasmolytic properties. Despite being in use since the 1920s, its mechanism of action still needs
