Transcriptomics analysis (RNA-sequencing) of Methanococcus maripaludis wild-type strain and moeA deletion mutant.

open access: yes, 2023
Transcriptomic analysis of total RNA for Methanococcus maripaludis grown in McCas-formate medium. The data compared the RNA abundance between the wild-type strain and the mutant strain with the gene encoding molybdopterin molybdotransferase (moeA ...

Automated metabolic reconstruction for Methanococcus jannaschii [PDF]

open access: yesArchaea, 2003
We present the computational prediction and synthesis of the metabolic pathways in Methanococcus jannaschii from its genomic sequence using the PathoLogic software. Metabolic reconstruction is based on a reference knowledge base of metabolic pathways and is performed with minimal manual intervention.

aCPSF1 cooperates with terminator U-tract to dictate archaeal transcription termination efficacy

open access: yeseLife, 2021
Recently, aCPSF1 was reported to function as the long-sought global transcription termination factor of archaea; however, the working mechanism remains elusive.

Crystal structure of Methanococcus jannaschii dihydroorotase

open access: yesProteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics, 2022
AbstractIn this paper, we report the structural analysis of dihydroorotase (DHOase) from the hyperthermophilic and barophilic archaeon Methanococcus jannaschii. DHOase catalyzes the reversible cyclization of N‐carbamoyl‐l‐aspartate to l‐dihydroorotate in the third step of de novo pyrimidine biosynthesis.

Characterization of the Dihydroorotase from Methanococcus jannaschii [PDF]

open access: yesThe Protein Journal, 2017
The gene that codes for the putative dihydroorotase in the hyperthermophilic archaeon Methanococcus jannaschii was subcloned in pET-21a and expressed in Escherichia coli. A purification protocol was devised. The purity of the protein was evaluated by SDS-PAGE and the protein was confirmed by sequencing using LC-MS.

Genetics of Nitrogen Regulation in Methanococcus maripaludis [PDF]

open access: yesGenetics, 1999
Abstract We have used genetic methods in Methanococcus maripaludis to study nitrogen metabolism and its regulation. We present evidence for a “nitrogen regulon” in Methanococcus and Methanobacterium species containing genes of nitrogen metabolism that are regulated coordinately at the transcriptional level via a common repressor binding ...

ADP-dependent Phosphofructokinases in Mesophilic and Thermophilic Methanogenic Archaea [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Phosphofructokinase (PFK) is a key enzyme of the glycolytic pathway in all domains of life. Two related PFKs, ATP-dependent and PPi-dependent PFK, have been distinguished in bacteria and eucarya, as well as in some archaea.

Nutrition and carbon metabolism of Methanococcus voltae [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 1982
Methanococcus voltae is a heterotrophic, H2-oxidizing methanogenic bacterium. In complex medium, this bacterium has a doubling time of 1.2 h at its temperature optimum of 38 degrees C. In defined medium, optimal growth is obtained with 0.75 mM isoleucine, 0.75 mM leucine, 2.5 mM acetate, 5 mM NH4Cl, 84 mM MgSO4, 0.4 M NaCl, 1 mM CaCl2, 10 microM Fe2O3,

Colorectal Cancer Archaeome: A Metagenomic Exploration, Tunisia

open access: yesCurrent Issues in Molecular Biology, 2023
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a serious public health problem known to have a multifactorial etiology. The association between gut microbiota and CRC has been widely studied; however, the link between archaea and CRC has not been sufficiently studied.
