OXCT1‐driven succinylation of PSMG3 stabilizes the proteasome to facilitate picornavirus replication

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
Upon entering the pig, foot‐and‐mouth disease virus (FMDV) regulates host glycolysis and the citrate cycle by modulating the expression of metabolic enzymes, resulting in changes in post‐translational modifications (PTMs) including succinylation, lactylation, crotonylation, acetylation, and phosphorylation.

Methionine Sulfoxide Reductase in Neurodegenerative Disease and Locomotor-Associated Dopamine Signaling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Reactive oxygen species can cause posttranslational modifications to amino acids, including sulfur-containing methionine. Methionine sulfoxide modifications are reduced by methionine sulfoxide reductase enzymes.

Methionine sulfoxide reductases of Aspergillus nidulans [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Methionine sulfoxide reductases (Msr) are repair proteins, which provide an important part of the cellular antioxidant defense. Methionine oxidation results in a diasteromeric mixture of methionine-S-sulfoxide (Met-S-O) and methionine-R-sulfoxide (Met-R ...

Time‐Resolved Effects of Cold Atmospheric Plasma on E. coli GW‐AmxH19 Transcriptome and Proteome in an Emulated Wastewater Environment

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) is effective against a variety of microorganisms. Here, we described effects on an Escherichia coli strain isolated from hospital wastewater caused by treatment with physical plasma. E. coli GW‐AmxH19 was incubated in artificial wastewater and treated for 15 min with CAP.

Alternative first exon splicing regulates subcellular distribution of methionine sulfoxide reductases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Background: Methionine sulfoxide reduction is an important protein repair pathway that protects against oxidative stress, controls protein function and has a role in regulation of aging.

Cross‐Linking Mass Spectrometry of the Antimicrobial Peptides Magainin 2 and PGLa Reveals Heterodimerization in Micellar Medium

open access: yesRapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rationale In this study, we applied cross‐linking mass spectrometry (XL‐MS) to characterize the oligomeric states of a PGLa/magainin 2 mixture and gain insight into the heterodimerization previously suggested in the literature. Both peptides have shown a synergistic enhancement of activity when tested in antimicrobial assays; however, the ...

Kinetic resolution of phenyl methyl sulfoxides by mammalian methionine sulfoxide reductase A

open access: yes, 2017
Chiral sulfoxides are widely used in organic synthesis as chiral auxiliaries. There are numerous strategies for the preparation of enantiomerically pure sulfoxides, based either on the enantioselective oxidation of sulphides or the enantiospecific ...

Oxaziridines: Versatile Reagents in Modern Organic Synthesis

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, EarlyView.
Being capable of transferring an O atom and N‐group/atom, oxaziridines are considered multitasking agents. These are employed for diverse organic transformations, such as epoxidation of olefins, α‐ and γ‐hydroxylation/amination of carbonyl compounds, oxidation of sulfides, [3+2]cycloaddition with unsaturated systems.

Brain metastasis‐associated fibroblasts shape the tumour microenvironment to enhance cancer cell invasion

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
Brain metastasis‐associated fibroblasts are active stromal components of the metastatic niche characterised by extracellular matrix remodelling and production of pro‐migratory mediators. They promote monocyte and cancer cell migration and enhance cancer cell invasion while having no growth‐promoting effect on cancer cells.

Multi‐Omics Integration Reveals Metabolic Reprogramming and EMT‐Driven Metastasis in Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Integrated transcriptomic, metabolomic, and spatial proteomic profiling of TNBC tumors identifies a metastatic‐associated molecular landscape characterized by EMT activation, metabolic reprogramming, and tumor microenvironment (TME) remodeling. Multi‐omics integration reveals coordinated alterations in EMT signatures, amino acid metabolism, immune ...
