Summary The incorporation of mevalonic acid into phosphorylated derivatives was studied for the first time in Chlorophyceae algae. Cell-free extracts and cell suspensions of Chlorella fusca were able to phosphorylate mevalonic acid. The total mevalonate phosphorylation showed a clear maximum at pH 8.2.
