Ketamine exposure in adult mice leads to increased cell death in C3H, DBA2 and FVB inbred mouse strains [PDF]

open access: yesDrug and Alcohol Dependence, 2008
Drug abuse is common among adolescents and young adults. Although the consequences of intoxication are known, sequelae of drugs emerging on campuses and in clubs nationwide are not. We previously demonstrated that ketamine exposure results in lasting physiological abnormalities in mice.

Analysis of the sex-specific variability of blood parameters in C3H inbred mice by using data from a long-term, high-throughput project [PDF]

open access: yesPhysiological Research, 2021
Mice are important models for biomedical research by providing the possibility of standardizing genetic background and environmental conditions, which both affect phenotypic variability. Use of both sexes in experiments is strongly recommended because of possible differences in the outcome. However, sex-specific phenotypic variability is discussed with

Radiation-induced myeloid leukemia in murine models. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The use of radiation therapy is a cornerstone of modern cancer treatment. The number of patients that undergo radiation as a part of their therapy regimen is only increasing every year, but this does not come without cost.

Polyoma virus-induced osteosarcomas in inbred strains of mice: host determinants of metastasis. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2010
The mouse polyoma virus induces a broad array of solid tumors in mice of many inbred strains. In most strains tumors grow rapidly but fail to metastasize.

A Neuroprotective Locus Modulates Ischemic Stroke Infarction Independent of Collateral Vessel Anatomy

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2021
Although studies with inbred strains of mice have shown that infarct size is largely determined by the extent of collateral vessel connections between arteries in the brain that enable reperfusion of the ischemic territory, we have identified strain ...

Frequent DNA Polymorphisms Exist in Inbred CBA/J and C3H/HeN Mice

open access: yesGenomics, 1996
Although occasional DNA polymorphisms have been observed in inbred mice, CBA/J and C3H/HeN mice have two microsatellite alleles at over 1/3 of microsatellite loci tested. Since DNA polymorphisms were not detected in DBA/2J, C57BL/6J, and BALB/cJ, the frequency of microsatellite polymorphisms appears to be strain specific.

Effects of atherogenic diet consumption on lipoproteins in mouse strains C57BL/6 and C3H

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1991
Inbred mouse strains C57BL/6J (B6) (susceptible) and C3H/HeJ (C3H) (resistant) differ in atherosclerosis susceptibility due to a single gene, Ath-1. Plasma lipoproteins from female mice fed chow or an atherogenic diet displayed strain differences in ...

Unraveling genetic modifiers in the gria4 mouse model of absence epilepsy. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2014
Absence epilepsy (AE) is a common type of genetic generalized epilepsy (GGE), particularly in children. AE and GGE are complex genetic diseases with few causal variants identified to date.
