Slow in Motion but Smart in Learning and Memory: Behavioral Changes in Adult NR3A Knockout Mice

open access: yes, 2011
The expression of NMDA receptor subunit NR3A is high in the neonatal brain but low in adults. However, its functional role in the adult brain is obscure.

Generation of iNOS/dystrophin double knockout mice.

open access: yes, 2013
A, Outline of the breeding scheme. Dystrophin and iNOS heterozygous male (Dys, Y/4cv; iNOS, +/−) and female (Dys, wt/4cv; iNOS, +/−) mice were generated by crossing iNOS knockout mice with mdx4cv mice.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Phenotype of capillaries in skeletal muscle of nNOS-knockout mice

open access: yes, 2013
Because neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) has a well-known impact on arteriolar blood flow in skeletal muscle, we compared the ultrastructure and the hemodynamics of/in the ensuing capillaries in the extensor digitorum longus (EDL) muscle of male ...

Direct action through the Sertoli cells is essential for androgen stimulation of spermatogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Androgens act to stimulate spermatogenesis through androgen receptors (AR) on the Sertoli cells and peritubular myoid cells (PTM). Specific ablation of the AR in either cell type will cause a severe disruption of spermatogenesis.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Microglial P2Y12 receptor regulates ventral hippocampal CA1 neuronal excitability and innate fear in mice

open access: yesMolecular Brain, 2019
The P2Y12 receptor (P2Y12R) is a purinoceptor that is selectively expressed in microglia in the central nervous system. As a signature receptor, microglial P2Y12R mediates process chemotaxis towards ADP/ATP gradients and is engaged in several ...

Estrogen Receptor-α Knockout Mice

open access: yes, 2016
Tissue specific knockout mice are valuable tools to study gene function in vivo. The method uses the Cre/loxP system in which loxP sites are cloned into the genome surrounding one or more exons of a gene and the targeted exon(s) are deleted when the Cre ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.
