Behaviour of 4-(4-acetoaminophenyl)-4-oxobut-2-enoic acid towards carbon and nitrogen nucleophiles and use of these products in the synthesis of some interesting heterocycles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The present work is devoted to study the interaction of-aroylacrylic acid derivative (1) with some containing active methylene compounds under Michael reaction conditions and afforded the Michael adducts (2a-e).

Enantioselectivity investigation of short polar peptides with different positions in the Michael reaction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This work reports the effectiveness of short polar peptides as asymmetric catalysts in Michael reactions to attain good yields of enantio- and diastereoselective isomers.

Dimethyl 7-(dimethylamino)-3,4-dihydro-1-(2-oxopropyl)-4-phenylnaphthalene-2,2(1H)-dicarboxylate

open access: yesMolbank, 2017
A Friedel-Crafts–type ring-opening/intramolecular Michael addition cascade reaction of (E)-4-(3-(dimethylamino)phenyl)but-3-en-2-one with dimethyl 2-phenylcyclopropane-1,1-dicarbo-xylate catalyzed by Yb(OTf)3 has produced a new compound, dimethyl 7 ...

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Dynamic covalent chemistry in polymer networks : a mechanistic perspective [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The incorporation of dynamic covalent linkages within and between polymer chains brings new properties to classical thermosetting polymer formulations, in particular in terms of thermal responses, processing options and intrinsic recycling abilities ...

Practical Asymmetric Synthesis of Sitagliptin Phosphate Monohydrate

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
Optically pure sitagliptin phosphate monohydrate is efficiently and practically synthesized through a chiral hemiacetal as the key intermediate in 54% overall yield starting from (E)-4-(2,4,5-trifluorophenyl)but-2-enal and N-boc-protected hydroxylamine ...

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

Dual-functional materials via CCTP and selective orthogonal thiol-Michael addition/epoxide ring opening reactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA) has been synthesised by cobalt catalysed chain transfer polymerisation (CCTP) yielding, in one step, polymers with two points for post polymerisation functionalisation; the activated terminal vinyl bond and in chain ...

Isoindolinones as Michael Donors under Phase Transfer Catalysis: Enantioselective Synthesis of Phthalimidines Containing a Tetrasubstituted Carbon Stereocenter

open access: yesMolecules, 2015
Readily available chiral ammonium salts derived from cinchona alkaloids have proven to be effective phase transfer catalysts in the asymmetric Michael reaction of 3-substituted isoindolinones.

Creating Ti–Fe α/β Alloys by Diffusion‐Driven Solid‐State Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study proposes making alloys containing fast diffusing elements that are difficult to produce by ingot metallurgy, by diffusion‐driven solid‐state HIP processing of elemental powders and low‐temperature homogenisation. Here, novel Fe‐Ti α–β alloys are formed having fine α–β lamellae, a small β prior grain size without significant intermetallics ...
