Buccal Micronucleus Cytome Assay
2010The Buccal Micronucleus Cytome (BMCyt) assay is a new minimally invasive system for studying DNA damage, chromosomal instability, cell death, and the regenerative potential of buccal mucosal tissue. This method is increasingly being used in molecular epidemiologic studies investigating the impact of nutrition, life-style factors, genotoxin exposure ...

The In Vitro Micronucleus Assay
2011The in vitro micronucleus test detects genotoxic damage in interphase cells. The in vitro micronucleus test provides an alterative to the chromosome aberration test, and because the in vitro micronucleus test examines cells at interphase, the assessment of micronuclei can be scored faster, as the analysis of damage is thought to be less subjective and ...

An assessment of the in vitro hepatocyte micronucleus assay
Mutation Research/Environmental Mutagenesis and Related Subjects, 1993The in vitro hepatocyte micronucleus assay was tested for its practicability and its usefulness in detecting mutagens. The assay protocol developed by Alati et al. (1989) was shown to give reproducible levels of proliferating hepatocytes and the formation of micronuclei could be readily assessed by fluorescence microscopy.

In vivo rodent erythrocyte micronucleus assay
Mutation Research/Environmental Mutagenesis and Related Subjects, 1994The following summary represents a consensus of the working group except where noted. The items discussed are listed in the order in which they appear in the OECD guideline (474) for easy reference. Introduction, purpose, scope, relevance, application and limits of test. The analysis of immature erythrocytes in either bone marrow or peripheral blood is

Micronucleus Assays in Amphibians
2019Induction of micronucleus (MN) expression is a well-validated biomarker of genotoxic exposure in eukaryotic cells and is widely used in biomonitoring programs. The presence of permeable skin, which facilitates toxicant exposure and local abundance, is among the characteristics that make amphibians good indicators of ecosystem health.

Micronucleus Assay with Tetrad Cells of Tradescantia
2019The Tradescantia micronucleus assay has been used since 50 years for the detection of genotoxins (including carcinogens) in the environment. A large database concerning the effects of individual chemicals and complex environmental mixtures (soil, air and waters) has accumulated.

Micronucleus Assay with Tetrad Cells of Tradescantia
2013The Tradescantia micronucleus assay is being used since almost 50 years for the detection of genotoxins (including carcinogens) in the environment. A large database on the effects of individual compounds and of complex environmental mixtures (soil, air and water) has accumulated.

Environmental and Molecular Mutagenesis, 1998
1,4-Dioxane, an animal carcinogen, was not previously genotoxic in in vitro assays. We reevaluated the compound's genotoxic potential in five in vitro genotoxicity tests in the presence and absence of S9 mix using recommended new protocols. We used the bacterial reverse mutation assay with Salmonella TA and E.

The Micronucleus Assay in Toxicology
2019Concerns about the adverse health effects of chemicals and radiation present in the environment and at workplaces have created the need for better detection systems to assess their potential to cause DNA damage in humans and other organisms across ecosystems.

Micronucleus Assay and Labeling of Centromeres with FISH Technique
2010The cytokinesis-block micronucleus (CBMN) assay has since many years been applied for in vitro genotoxicity testing and biomonitoring of human populations. The standard in vitro/ex vivo micronucleus test is usually performed on human lymphocytes and has become a comprehensive method to assess genetic damage, cytostasis, and cytotoxicity. The predictive
