Small Molecule Inhibition of microRNA-210 Reprograms an Oncogenic Hypoxic Circuit [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2017
A hypoxic state is critical to the metastatic and invasive characteristics of cancer. Numerous pathways play critical roles in cancer maintenance, many of which include noncoding RNAs such as microRNA (miR)-210 that regulates hypoxia inducible factors (HIFs). Herein, we describe the identification of a small molecule named Targapremir-210 that binds to

Prognostic evaluation of microRNA-210 in various carcinomas

open access: yesMedicine, 2017
We performed this meta-analysis to provide a comprehensive evaluation of the role of MicroRNA-210 (miR-210) expression on the overall survival (OS) rate of cancers. We searched for relevant available literatures on miR-210 and cancer until November 1st, 2016 on the databases PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, and Science Direct database.

Involvement of MicroRNA-210 Demethylation in Steroid-associated Osteonecrosis of the Femoral Head [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2016
AbstractAngiogenesis is an important event in steroid-associated osteonecrosis of the femoral head (SONFH). Here we performed miRNA microarray with SONFH tissues (ONs) and the adjacent normal tissues (NLs) to select the angiogenic miRNA. The results showed that miR-210 was differentially expressed in SONFH versus normal tissues.

Insulin Resistance: An Update on Biochemical and Pathophysiological Mechanisms and Impact on Various Diseases

open access: yesiNew Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Insulin resistance is the biological phenomenon in which the human body's normal response to the metabolic hormone insulin is compromised. Insulin is a regulator of most of the essential metabolic steps in the body that control energy homoeostasis, so dysregulation leads to multiple diverse human diseases including, most prominently, Type 2 ...

Induction of the cellular microRNA, Hs_154, by West Nile virus contributes to virus-mediated apoptosis through repression of antiapoptotic factors. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of noncoding small RNAs that regulate multiple cellular processes, as well as the replication and pathogenesis of many DNA viruses and some RNA viruses.

SUMOylation regulates tumorigenesis and progression: Molecular mechanisms and therapeutic applications

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
SUMOylation, a dynamic post‐translational modification, acts as a master regulator at the heart of tumor malignancy. Our work delineates how the SUMOylation cycle—mediated by E1/E2/E3 enzymes and reversed by SENPs—orchestrates multiple hallmarks of cancer. The central pathway converges on three critical pathological axes: 1.

Non-Coding RNAs Including miRNAs and lncRNAs in Cardiovascular Biology and Disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
It has been recognized for decades that proteins, which are encoded by our genome and produced via transcription and translation steps, are building blocks that play vital roles in almost all biological processes.

Circadian Immunity and Vascular Inflammation in Cardiovascular Disease Chronotherapy Windows: Time for a Re‐Assessment

open access: yesMed Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Circadian rhythms orchestrate cardiovascular physiology by regulating immune and inflammatory pathways. Disruption of these rhythms profoundly alters vascular homeostasis, thereby promoting the onset and progression of cardiovascular diseases (CVD).
