Characterization of the pattern of development of key compounds contributing to aroma quality of chicken meat and their metabolic markers

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
The graphical abstract shows the principal results of this study. Eight major aroma‐contributing compounds (nonanal, octanal, dimethyl tetrasulfide, hexanal, 1‐octen‐3‐ol, (E)‐2‐nonenal, heptanal, and (E,E)‐2,4‐decadienal) were identified by electronic nose and GC‐O‐MS analysis, and their content increased with age.

Spiritual and religious information experiences: An Annual Review of Information Science and Technology (ARIST) paper

open access: yesJournal of the Association for Information Science and Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract This chapter examines the contours of the religious and spiritual information experiences subfield through a review and content analysis of selected contributions from the past two decades in both information science and related fields. The research question that guides this review is: How have spirituality and religion been conceptualized in ...

Medication Complications in Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The need for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) therapy is a marker of disease severity for which multiple medications are required. The therapy causes physiologic changes that impact drug pharmacokinetics.

Semiphysiologically based pharmacokinetic model for midazolam and CYP3A mediated metabolite 1‐OH‐midazolam in morbidly obese and weight loss surgery patients

open access: yesCPT: Pharmacometrics & Systems Pharmacology, 2015
This study aimed to describe the pharmacokinetics of midazolam and its cytochrome P450 3A (CYP3A) mediated metabolite 1‐OH‐midazolam in morbidly obese patients receiving oral and i.v.

Investigation of a broad‐spectrum micronutrient formulation as a possible precipitant of pharmacokinetic micronutrient–drug interactions

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims Daily broad‐spectrum micronutrients are being used by the general public and formulations are receiving research interest in mental health settings. Despite concerns about combining medicines and broad‐spectrum micronutrients in mental health care, there have not been any formal evaluations of potential interactions.

Comparison of Oral Midazolam and Promethazine with Oral Midazolam alone for Sedating Children during Computed Tomography

open access: yesArchives of Academic Emergency Medicine, 2018
Introduction: Both midazolam and promethazine are recommended to be used as sedatives in many studies but each have some side effects that limits their use. Combination therapy as an alternative method, may decreases these limitations.

Variability in intestinal drug metabolizing enzymes and transporters in Crohn's disease and potential impact on oral drug absorption

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims The aim of study was to generate quantitative data on the abundance of drug‐metabolizing enzymes and transporters (DMETs) in inflamed and non‐inflamed Crohn's disease (CD) ileum and colon, for incorporation into physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) models, enabling prediction of oral drugs' pharmacokinetics (PK) perturbation in CD patients.

Drug–drug interaction profile of ritlecitinib as perpetrator and victim through cytochrome P450

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims To assess the effect of a potent cytochrome P450 (CYP) 3A inhibitor and CYP inducer on the pharmacokinetics of ritlecitinib, a JAK3/TEC family kinase inhibitor, and assess the effect of ritlecitinib on the pharmacokinetics of CYP substrates (midazolam, efavirenz, tolbutamide, caffeine and oral contraceptives [ethinyl oestradiol and levonorgestrel])
