Risk Stratification of Chronic Kidney Disease in Adults Using Noninvasive Fibrosis Tests Based on the American Diabetes Association Algorithm

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 6, Page 5240-5251, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Aims Although the American Diabetes Association (ADA) recently established a diagnostic algorithm for the early detection of liver fibrosis among high‐risk individuals, its implications for chronic kidney disease (CKD) risk stratification remain unclear.

Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP): A Comprehensive Review of Types, Pathophysiology, and Treatment Approaches

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy is an autoimmune disorder causing demyelination, leading to distal weakness, sensory loss, and autonomic dysfunction. Immune activation triggers macrophage‐mediated myelin damage and conduction failure.

Dopamine‐Induced Seizure in a Heart Failure Patient: A Case Report and Review of Neurotoxic Implications

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT In heart failure patients, dopamine therapy, particularly at higher doses, may induce seizures due to its impact on cerebral blood flow and exacerbation of underlying hypoxemia and electrolyte imbalances. Close monitoring and cautious use of dopamine, with consideration of alternative inotropic agents like dobutamine, are essential to mitigate

Circulating Level of Growth‐Differentiation Factor 15 and Mortality of Patients With Acute Heart Failure: A Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesClinical Cardiology, Volume 49, Issue 5, May 2026.
Elevated admission GDF‐15 levels are associated with increased mortality in acute heart failure. This meta‐analysis of 10 studies (N = 3724) found a pooled RR of 2.82 (95% CI: 2.39–3.32; p < 0.001; I² = 0%), supporting GDF‐15 as a promising biomarker for early risk stratification in AHF patients.

Cardiovascular‐Kidney‐Metabolic Syndrome in People With HIV: An Emerging Frontier for Clinical Pharmacology

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 119, Issue 5, Page 1136-1140, May 2026.
As antiretroviral therapy (ART) prolongs lifespans, people with HIV (PWH) face a new syndemic: Cardiovascular‐Kidney‐Metabolic (CKM) syndrome. Yet CKM in PWH is poorly characterized. Inflammation, complex pharmacokinetic (PK) alterations, ART‐associated metabolic effects, and gut dysbiosis amplify risk. Managing CKM increases medication burden, thereby

Corticosterone as a Physiological Biomarker: Decoding the Environment‐Cort‐Energy Paradigm

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
Corticosterone (cort) is increasingly used as a biomarker in wildlife conservation, though debate remains over which measures best capture physiological and environmental relationships. Using structural equation modeling on a 14‐year dataset, we evaluated the total hormone, free hormone, and CBG profile hypotheses linking cort, energetic state, and ...

Gut Dysbiosis as a Shared Mechanism in Obesity and Hypertension: Exploring a Promising Therapeutic Avenue

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 3, May 2026.
This review synthesises current knowledge on gut microbiome involvement in obesity and hypertension, evaluates microbiome‐based therapeutic strategies, and identifies critical research gaps to guide future investigations aimed at mitigating the dual pandemics.
