miRNA target prediction through mining of miRNA relationships

open access: yes2008 8th IEEE International Conference on BioInformatics and BioEngineering, 2008
miRNAs are small regulators that mediate gene expression and each miRNA regulates specific target genes. In animals, target prediction of the miRNAs is accomplished through several computational methods, i.e. miRanda, TargetScan and PicTar.

Aptamer‐Based Delivery Systems for VEGF and NGF Modulation in Ocular Therapies

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Aptamer‐based delivery systems targeting NGF and VEGF hold significant potential for precise and sustained treatment of complex diseases affecting both the anterior and posterior segments of the eye. This review critically summarizes current strategies for NGF and VEGF delivery as well as VEGF sequestration, providing a clinical perspective on how ...

Extracellular Vesicles Modulation by an Adiponectin Receptor Agonist Provides Cardioprotection for Myocardial Ischemic Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that ALY688, a drug mimicking the heart‐protective hormone adiponectin, reduces myocardial ischemia injury. ALY688 increases the production of extracellular vesicles, which carry protective cargo including adiponectin itself.

Hierarchically Engineered Multi‐Enzyme Nanoreactors for in vitro Drug Biosynthesis and Pathway Transplantation Into Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A hierarchically structured metal–organic framework (eMIL) is shown to host the complete six‐enzyme biosynthesis pathway for the anti‐cancer pigment violacein, reshaping reaction dynamics and multiplying in vitro yields. eMIL nanoreactors deliver this reconstituted bacterial multi‐protein system into mammalian cells, where cell‐derived substrates and ...

Sea Urchin‐Inspired Immuno‐Instructive Ionic Flow Drives MSCs‐Macrophage Communication to Promote Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Bone tissue regeneration is a complex physiological process dependent on the spatiotemporal coordination of immune cells and stem cells. Conventional research primarily elucidates the mechanism through which materials facilitate bone formation by initially modulating macrophages and subsequently encouraging the osteogenic differentiation of ...

Introns of plant pri‐miRNAs enhance miRNA biogenesis

open access: yesEMBO reports, 2013
Plant MIR genes are independent transcription units that encode long primary miRNA precursors, which usually contain introns. For two miRNA genes, MIR163 and MIR161 , we show that introns are crucial for the ...

Exploring the Potential of Zero‐Dimensional Carbon Nanomaterials in Photoluminescent, Electrochemiluminescent and Electrochemical Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Zero‐dimensional carbon nanomaterials are presented as multifunctional platforms linking structure, property, and sensing performance. Surface engineering and heteroatom doping modulate electron‐transfer and luminescent behavior, enabling electrochemical, photoluminescent, and electrochemiluminescent detection. Fundamental design principles, analytical

Replication Stress and Consequential Instability of the Genome and Epigenome

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Cells must faithfully duplicate their DNA in the genome to pass their genetic information to the daughter cells. To maintain genomic stability and integrity, double-strand DNA has to be replicated in a strictly regulated manner, ensuring the accuracy of ...
