Blood pressure effects of SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists: Mechanisms, trial evidence and Real‐world data

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists modestly lower blood pressure across diverse patient populations, including those without diabetes. These effects appear largely independent of glycaemic control and offer additive value in high‐risk patients with overlapping comorbidities.

The mitochondrial unfolded protein response, a conserved stress response pathway with implications in health and disease

open access: yes, 2014
The ability to respond to various intracellular and/or extracellular stresses allows the organism to adapt to changing environmental conditions and drives evolution.

Nanomedicine‐driven innovations in postoperative cancer immunotherapy: Remodeling tumor microenvironment and precision delivery strategies

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Nanomedicine‐Driven Strategies for Suppressing Postoperative Tumor Recurrence. This schematic illustrates three pivotal nanomedical strategies that synergistically counteract recurrence by targeting residual disease and the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment within the surgical cavity.

Atf5 As A Regulator Of A Mammalian Mitochondrial Unfolded Protein Response [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Mitochondrial dysfunction is pervasive in human pathologies such as neurodegeneration, diabetes, cancer and pathogen infections as well as during normal aging.

From Ecological States to Trajectories: Revealing Ecological Dynamics Through Environmental Nucleic Acids

open access: yesBiological Diversity, EarlyView.
Environmental nucleic acids (eNA) observations integrate temporal and ecological information across multiple dimensions of an ecological state. Repeated and complementary observations extend biomonitoring from state assessment toward reconstruction of ecological trajectories, including their direction, rate, pathways, progression, recovery, and ...

CR treatment might reduce chronic inflammation, stress response, and unfolded protein response induced by amyloid deposits and upregulate mitochondrial function.

open access: yes, 2017
Using quantitative real-time RT-PCR, we determined mRNA expression levels of the following genes in the liver after the intervention: inflammation-related genes (Nfkb1, Tnfa, Il1b, Il6, and Tgfb1), macrophage marker gene (Adgre1), stress response-related

Heat stress in spermatogenesis: a redox‐dependent decision network linking ROS, autophagy, and regulated cell death

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Heat stress (HS) is an increasing threat to male reproductive health, disrupting spermatogenesis through complex and interdependent cellular responses within the seminiferous epithelium. Although excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS) production is a hallmark of HS, ROS also act as central regulators of cell fate decisions beyond their role ...

Antimicrobial Peptides and Peptidomimetics in Foods – A Synthetic Foray

open access: yesChemFoodChem, EarlyView.
This Review discusses AMPs in foods and their syntheses. It espouses facile methods to make them accessible and suggests their utility in the mitigation and eradication of the burgeoning maladies of antimicrobial and multidrug resistance (AMR and MDR).

Transcriptome and proteome analyses reveal divergent adaptive strategies in nasopharyngeal epithelial cells and nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells under ultra‐low background radiation

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that the ultra‐low background radiation environment in deep underground laboratories significantly inhibits the proliferation of both normal nasopharyngeal epithelial cells (HNEPC) and nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells (HNE‐1) cells, with malignant cells exhibiting higher sensitivity.

Secretopathies emerge as a new class of neurocristopathies

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Neural crest cells are a transient embryonic population of cells that give rise to a wide range of structures, including craniofacial cartilage and bone, peripheral neurons and glia, as well as components of the cardiac outflow tract, among others.
